Jimmy Carr slammed for soldier slur

Reported today in the Sunday Express Jimmy Carr has been slammed by downing street for the following gag, regarding wounded soldiers in Afghanistan.

'Say what you like about the servicemen amputee's from Iraq and Afghanistan, but we are going to have a ****ing good Paralympics team in 2012'

Downing Streets defence Secretary Bob Ainsworth said 'Our brave armed forces put their life on the line for all of us and deserve the utmost respect'

Jimmy Carr has appologised and said it was only a gag with the intention of making people laugh and he does have respect for the soldiers, he has visited wounded soldiers in hospital before and lifted their spirits.

Christ, I hate when people take comedy out of context.

...can't wait for the Paralympics though.

As they said on "Live from Studio 5" lots of people are getting behind Jimmy. Soliders have phoned and written to the show saying that they themselves have said worse things, its some peoples humour. Soliders take the mick out of it as well.

i like jimmy carr and frankie boyle, they are the best comedians around right now and are known for their Dark humour so i dont get why people are shocked everytime they hear their jokes, they've been doing it for years!

You know what people do other than joke? They complain about every single *****ing thing. We shouldn't change what and who we are and what we do to cater for people like this. People get offended every day. ***** them.

Jack_ 20-01-2010 03:56 PM

Rofl.

Haters can get ****ed. Miserable bastards.

Firewire 20-01-2010 03:58 PM

lmao.

Obviously he wasn't meaning to offend, he's a comedian for christ sake.

BB_Eye 23-01-2010 09:58 AM

I'm just really annoyed that Carr decided to apologise in the end. If he had any backbone he would have stuck to his guns.

Jayson 23-01-2010 10:53 AM

What a load of bollocks, lol.

Great gag.
