Orlaith, not that bad?

I was watching BB live the morning Science went and I heard a great conversation, which I've mentioned a million times, between Science, Orlaith, Kemal and Makosi. It was about religion and interested me very much.

Orlaith seemed to know a lot and seemed to have more to her than what most of the British public saw.

Although I was gutted Science left I didn't think it was anything to do with her, I put it all down to Derek (correctly so). On Friday I kind of wanted Kemal to go to show the public how stupid they were for not keeping entertaining housemates. However when he went I felt a bit upset for him.

THEN after watching last nights show this morning I realised why she voluntarily left. Not only did I understand her and agree with her but I realised I had liked her for ages and was sad to see her leave.

Derek is evil. To be in a house with someone constantly bitching about you, turning people against you and starting arguments with you for no reason must be hell. Not only must that be hell for 24 hours a day, but to know everyone is against you (even the public) must be awful.

Science handled the situation well because he was a strong character. Orlaith proved how strong a character he was. I think she handled everyone turning against her how most people would.

Science didn't take anything. He argued a lot, whereas poor Orlaith tried to get on with people. Although I didn't like her as such, there was nothing to her for someone like Derek to hate so much. I honestly think he was jealous of her. I feel sympathetic, just wondering if anybody else did?

I know it was cowardly to walk out and it was a shame, but why suffer more??

Can I say though, her sister on BBLB was attrocious AND her Dad seemed very controlling as if he was pushing his daughters to be a certain way (slightly off topic, nay mind).

Agreed about her dad and sister. Ever since I first saw her sister weeks ago, she seemed a bitchy cow.
Anyway I agree about Derek, he's playing a very, very clever game and it's working. No-one can see what he's doing, the only person that realised was Science.

I just find it sad that it's taken so long for them to start realising what he's like. He will be up this week, but it's too late.

I know.. He should've gone before Maxwell.. that was when he started playing his manipulating game.

science_to_win 31-07-2005 12:01 PM

I don't understand why he's not been in trouble by big brother. I mean he basically tells people who he will be voting.

Although actually I guess he hints to one person who he will be voting, then hints to another about another person.

*PlayGirl* 31-07-2005 12:03 PM

Yeah but I still think he should've had at LEAST 3 warnings.. he influences votes near enough every week.

science_to_win 31-07-2005 12:05 PM

Lets just agree that WE WANT HIM OUT!! hahaha, we're so bitter about Science!

*PlayGirl* 31-07-2005 12:05 PM

Bitter about Science ?

science_to_win 31-07-2005 12:06 PM

Bitter about Science leaving! I've not got over his ill treatment!

*PlayGirl* 31-07-2005 12:06 PM

Orlaith gave as good as she got when it came to bitching. Six of one, half a dozen of the other.

Slartibartfast 01-08-2005 08:28 AM

After seeing Orlaith's eviction interview on BBLB (and I hope thats the last we see of her), I find it hard to believe that anyone can say she wasn't that bad. Before she quit the show and walked I would have agreed that she really wasn't that bad and I posted on friday that I couldn't understand why people disliked her so much. But not now.

In that short interview she showed herself to be a nasty, horrible little girl. I have little respect for her quitting, and really that was bad enough. But in that interview (and some things she had in the DR on friday nights show), she tore the back out of Eugene, which surprised even Dermot. I wasn't surprised at her having a go at Derek, but what was the final straw was suggesting that she didn't feel safe sleeping in the house when Derek was around!! How melodramatic and over the top is this girl. Thats a disgusting thing to say, somehow suggesting that Derek was going to do what to her during the night?

And I still don't really know what Derek had done to her that was so bad. Yeah, he bitched about her, but to other people, so how can she be frightened by that, especially when every moron in that house bitches about people. There was never a stand up row between Orlaith and Derek, there was no aggression like Maxwell or Science had at times shown. She keeps harking back to Derek's comment about a degree not making you clever, as if that somehow justifies her belief that Derek is going to "do" her over in the middle of night. OK, so her and Derek didn't get on, big deal, it's a gameshow and you can't expect to get on with everyone, but she has made out that she is some poor little victim who was driven from the house by the nasty evil man. What a load of crap!

Horrible nasty little quitter, may she never dirty my TV screen again.

People just see Eugene as this nerdy bloke that is totally harmless but he bitches and is Derek's follower. Eugene did bitch about Orlaith and the way that he went on about Science was almost as bad as Derek. He's nasty!

GabrielleisLove 01-08-2005 10:09 AM

Eugene was guilty by asscoiation with Derek!

ThaGazBoi 01-08-2005 10:10 AM

Agree gabrielle, We can deffo see a nasty streak to him

Slartibartfast 01-08-2005 10:21 AM

But what exactly did Eugene do to Orlaith to make her hate him so much? There's nothing that I can see. The girl simply didn't like him cos he was friends with Derek. She didn't like Derek cos, well I'm still confused why she hated Derek so much. She honestly cannot expect to go into the BB house and get on with everyone, especially when she is as vain and self-centred as she is. They all bitched about each other in there, some worse than others but simply cos Derek wasn't nice to her is no reason to make suggestions that she wasn't safe sleeping in the same house as him. If you look at the people she didn't like in the house, Derek, kemal and Eugene, these are the three blokes who clearly didn't fancy her or fawn all over her. It seems that if you don't fancy Orlaith, then you're evil according to her.

She's a horrible, melodramatic, self-absorbed little cow, as I said above, good riddance. (I just hope I don't run into her in Belfast cos I mightn't hold back my tongue and her dad apparently runs a boxing club!!)

Sunny_01 01-08-2005 10:41 AM

I never really disliked Orlaith - yes I agree she went OTT on BBLB but hey it was her 2 minutes of moan time and with luck that will be the end of it

Lol, harsh but true.

I think Orlaith was an awful housemate. Probably not a terrible person, but certainly, self obsessed and extremely shallow - only bothered about her looks. Also pretty selfish to whine on and on about going, but waiting sure that two people had been evicted before she finally upped and went. And what about all the people who spent money to keep her in? I think it's a shame that she was picked to go into the house in the first place.

BusyBee 01-08-2005 01:12 PM

Slartibartfast how right you are. What on earth did she think Derek was going to do to her in the night - take away her make-up bag. As for Eugene there was absolutely no need for the comments she made. There he was upset because he couldnt say goodbye to her and she was tearing him apart.

Just hope she has now found out just what Makosi has been saying about her. Good friend in the house, - no way Makosi was as bitchy as anyone else.

I also didnt like how she was blatently trying to influence nominations this week when she was talking to Makosi, Anthony and Craig. She went on and on and on about Derek. OK they didnt get on, but it would have been nice for Craig for instance to say something nice about him. He has really tried to support him on many occasions, but they just let her go on and on. But then again she only showed herself to be the selfish, vain person that she is.

I didnt like how she said that she knew she was staying and wanted to stay to see Kemal go.

AndyJK 01-08-2005 01:22 PM

I agree with more or less everything said in this thread.

In her last two weeks inside the hellish prison that is the Big Brother house, Orlaith put on such an act of theatrical self-pity she could be legible for a Tony award for 'best dramatic performance'.

Siouxsie 01-08-2005 01:45 PM

i think orlaith was a sly decieving skinny bitch to put it politly
