Swearing, quick quiz

I hate swearing and do not swear. Do you swear a lot and is it because

a. You just do not have the vocabulary
b. you are trying to appear nonchalant to friends
c. you are trying to look hard to friends, others
d. you are sub 21 years when everyone does it

?

I don't know why but I have never sworn and I don't think I ever will, Not even mild swears
It just doesn't come naturally to me. I say GOD sometimes if I make a mistake or drop something but that's about it ha

I swear because it adds enfasis to a sentance shows more emotion, usually anger.

I can control myself, never swear at work or infront of family, (non house family)

None of the above.

I swear a lot because I don't think swearing is a big deal.

I don't swear in public or in front of kids. But, in company my own age, I swear.

setanta 13-11-2009 03:01 PM

I never swore when I was younger but now it's just something that unfortunately comes naturally to me. Force of habit kinda thingy and it's usually to draw emphasis onto something which I'm passionate about rather than used to attack or criticize someone. I can guarantee you now that there'll be a fair few swear words coming out of me tomorrow with Ireland playing.

Niamh. 13-11-2009 03:05 PM

I rarely swear in real life but do a bit on here, I don't know why that is! maybe cos ye all make me angry lol (joking!!)

Lauren 13-11-2009 03:07 PM

Never sworn in front of my parents/family, and I'm 21.

Ah come on now Niamh, us Irish love to lace our conversations with a few juicy phrases from time to time. I'm sure that when you're hammered you've been known to waffle out a few pearls.

Firewire 13-11-2009 03:09 PM

I never swear in public. Not even to friends.

I use it on the internet though lol

oh God ,yeah when I'm drunk definately "shitbag" is one of my favorites hehe

Vicky. 13-11-2009 03:14 PM

I dont know why I swear to be honest, grew up with my parents, friends etc. swearing, so I just always have. Never actually swore infront of my parents until I was about 14 though, and never ever swore infront of my grandparents.

Even now, when gavs mother comes over, I have to stop swearing, I find it pretty hard as I do it without thinking most of the time.

Niamh. 13-11-2009 03:16 PM

Oh actually I swear quite alot when I'm driving! It's not my fault there are so many arseholes on the road!

Ha ha. My mother never swore in her life up until she decided to learn to drive about 10 years ago. You should hear her now when she's driving! I was the one she'd vent on when she first started to learn though - scarred me for life.

Princess 13-11-2009 03:35 PM

I swear all the time, but it's mainly feck, like 90% of the time, here feck isn't really considering that much of a swear.

Nope, I swear because I like it. End of story.

This thread fucking sucks.

Crimson Dynamo 13-11-2009 03:40 PM

does anyone (and i hope not) swear in front of their Mums?

Stu 13-11-2009 03:43 PM

Yes. And my mum swears back to me. We have good fun with it. Just the way we talk. I was raised around a lot of working class pub type atmospheres with good, friendly, honest folk and I am not one bit ashamed of it.

If you think swearing is a direct reflection on character, or that you are better than those that swear, or that swearing determines maturity, you are the one with the serious flaws, not us fuckheads.

Yes, she swears infront of me also.

We dont have a normal mum and daughter relationship though, more like mates, i can talk to her about anything.

WOMBAI 13-11-2009 03:44 PM

Not as a general rule. Only when angry - not as part of everyday conversation which appears to be the case with a lot of youngsters today. Don't see the need for it.
