Leaking Batteries???

Last night I was watching a dvd and the batteries in my remote started leaking. I didn't notice at first and then I kept on hearing a sizzling noise from the remote so I opened it up at there was a load of liquid so I just took them out and threw them on the floor. What happened to my batteries and is that in anyway normal?

Ninastar 14-11-2009 03:06 PM

its not normal and i think the black stuff is really poisonus. have you thrown the batteries away?

Dolphin-and-Whale 14-11-2009 03:06 PM

Ha no I'm afraid to touch them, I'm really paranoid at the moment.

Ninastar 14-11-2009 03:12 PM

Hmm there is a point. I wouldnt touch them either but how can you get rid of them?

Firewire 14-11-2009 03:12 PM

You could pick them up with wipes or something, then wash your hands and wipe your remote.

Dolphin-and-Whale 14-11-2009 03:14 PM

Ye. I'll get rid of them but think i'll have to get rid of the remote. It was just really weird, I could hear the remote sizzling and didn't have a clue what was going on.

No its not normal of course.
Very high acid level 1 on ph scale or alkaline level 14 not sure but shouldnt touch them s will burn the skin.

But you can probably contact a helpline as it should happen should get a replacement and everything.
