Big Brother "to go out with a bang"
 

Head of Channel 4 Julian Bellamy has promised a "memorable" end to Big Brother.

The broadcaster announced in the summer that next year's series would be the last it airs of the reality show.

The Guardian quotes Bellamy as saying: "Both Celebrity Big Brother and Big Brother will go out with a bang. We are playing our cards close to our chest. Rest assured it will be a memorable exit."

He added that the axing of the show was the "catalyst for a process of creative renewal" across the channel, including the decision to cancel Wife Swap and How Clean Is Your House?.

E4 boss Angela Jain recently promised that there will be more live footage of the housemates when Celebrity Big Brother returns for the last time in the New Year.

Im glad BB Is leaving C4 There lazy ****ers, and BB is far to good a show and deserves a better channel to be on.

Cant wait to see it on A Better Channel in 2011 :) and then i`ll be able to look at how **** C4 Has became ! :D

ITV would never touch it.

3 years ago and ITV would've jumped at the chance to have it, but now as alc09 said, they wouldn't touch it.

But it's a good thing really, can you imagine it on ITV? Shit, crap and bugger all censored, tasks would be about getting on with each other and anything in the slightest bit offensive would be taken out. Channel 4 have done well with the show, up until this year.

I hope it 'goes out with a bang' though, and that they really mean it.

Yeah it may be back on channel 4 in a few years or 10 years.. maybe it does need a break.. it will definately be back anyway!

Davina said they have nothing to lose, maybe they do need some racist people in there or god knows who to say the slightest thing wrong and get major headlines, it is easy to get them major headlines!

Hope they do put in some entertaining, interesting, intelligent, competitive and controversial housemates!

Don't get your hopes up kid. Big Brother 11 will be great, and will go out with a bang, but unless it suddenly starts getting Big Brother 3 era ratings again, it's finished after next year.

yep! well he did it fair and square.. and found out who had the least amount of votes.. simon can't win.. if he saved lucie then people would have called him a hypocrite because he did NOT save rachel the week before who could also sing well. However he is also being called a hypocrite for saving the twins because he says "this is a singing competition". Well one fact is for sure.. it would be boring without the twins :thumbs: simon cowell is god!

Exactly. Though ten years is a good run for any programme, whatever happens next year thanks mainly to what happens in both CBB and BB this year, it's going out on a whimper.

It's just so frustrating when you see other long running reality shows going from strength to strength and getting record figures, and I'm in little doubt if BB had been managed correctly over the last 3-4 years, and crucially given the support it needed from C4, it would be up there too.

The truth is though it's been run by people who'd settle for second best and never had the balls to make the decisions that needed making - both in terms of revamping the format and being bold enough to axe elements from the past to secure a future - and yes, I do mean Davina.

I've never been a Davina hater and never supported the often unfair criticism of the way she presented the show, but a couple of years ago it was clear the show needed to look to the future and move on - and I'm in little doubt both Big Brother and Davina's own career would have been in better shape if that decision had been made.
