There are lots of "looks normal to me" "looks like a regular street to me" comments. I don't think that they are genuine but i do think they are a typical "metrosexual liberal" reaction. They dont live there and so are happy to say "oh yeah looks great, multiculturalism is great and yer they do not practice what they preach and if they had the money would look to live in as white and English a village as they could afford and so forth.

Peckham is a dump and a dangerous one at that. Why are people afraid to call the video on what is patently obvious to one and all?

Because nobody has the balls to admit it in fear of being called racist.

Apparently we all have to accept multiculturalism as the norm.

It also, I think, makes them feel "inclusive" and less guilty about their real feelings.

I thought this was quite a good post on DS: lot of truth in what it says:

I do disagree with multiculturalism. I don't think it benefits anyone at all, the immigrants included. The immigrants that came here in the 50s and 60s wanted to become British, and most of them prospered, opened small businesses etc. I think a lot of them are mystified at many of today's immigrants who come here but insist on retaining the backward ways of the countries they have left behind. I personally do not understand the mentality behind it at all. There is a reason why some countries are more succesful than others so why insist on keeping the ways of a poorer country when you have the freedom afforded by living in the West?

Although I will add - that I don't disagree with multiculturalism - just the way some people refuse to adjust to our culture in our country!

So really, you don't mean "immigrants", you mean black and asian people who you perceive as coming from "backward countries". How about economic mugrants from the EU?

Immigrants have been coming here since before the Romans.

I say, some of you people could learn a thing or two from the posters on DS.
SO what did the people on that street do that was wrong? Be black, and asian, is that it? Thats the backwards way! I suppose they should bleach their skin to mix in with the british culture.

Not sure it is worth getting into another argument about - but I think you are missing the point! As far as many are concerned - it certainly isn't about skin colour - so you shouldn't imply it is - for dramatic effect.

Anyways, this video on that thread got me LMAO!! I honestly feel bad for some of you people seriously. You can probably relate to the poor dude!

YOu think they are not genuine, because they dont keep the same sad views of the world you have. Its a forum, best place to actually say what you really think without any repercussions. Sorry 98% of them dont feel like you do! That thread actually made me really appreciate the posters on the DS forum. Things arent exactly going like that on this one sadly.

If you look at statistics they say 90-95% of the population are British. Take a bit more off that for those British but with other ethnic backgrounds, and thats still a massive majority. That video has purposely gone to somewhere like that to cause outrage from people who can't see beyond the video. Its like going to a Muslim or Jewish community and complaining about the amount of religious non-Christian people as though its a huge majority in the country.

I don't doubt that - but I think a lot of people are arguing more about people who come here from other cultures - particularly those of particular religious groups - who make no attempt to adapt to our way of life - which, of course, makes people question why they are here. Then, increasingly, some of those people turn on us and spread hate. That is not about skin colour.

I don't mind immigrants unless they don't stick to our rules. By all means follow their religion but don't attempt to turn a Christian heritage country into their own. I haven't bothered looking at the video properly but it simply looks like someone walking about showing how many ethnics there are, most of whom are just going about day to day life in the way that we do.

Anyone who turns on the country and their values don't deserve to live there imo, but if they're causing no trouble then as far as I'm concerned they're welcome.

It may be about colour for some - but I think for most it is about culture. That is certainly what it is about for me.

Most immigrants will just get on with it. But the ones that don't seem to make a big stir and make headlines. The UK must be a laughing stock in that department.

That was a boring video, ten minutes of someone walking down a steet. Hardly anything to get upset about.

Guess it is just back to the old multiculturlalism and immigration debate. And both are not good for the UK at this time.
