"its boring, there is nuffin to do round here"

You know when you hear oiky teens making this plea on tv (usually on the news or documentary)

what is it that they are referring to do?

what is it they want to do but cannot?

A good example is where I live. It's very old fashioned and not many places directed for youths. There aren't many gigs since venues keep shutting down. We don't have a shopping centre, we don't even have a starbucks. Alot of people here like skateboarding and are shouted at for skateboarding in public places, but we don't have a skatepark. We have 1 bowling alley and 1 small cinema but they're crowded as ****.

There is basically nothing to do over here bar beaches, so alcohol and beach it is.

Similar situation here. Really is very little to do.

shopping, starbucks and playing on a skateboard?

is that the "do"?

Scarlett. 27-11-2009 05:37 PM

It's a stupid excuse for causing trouble, there is plenty to do, people dont have imagination these days (uh....which are my days xD)

Stu 27-11-2009 05:46 PM

I agree that it's been used as an excuse [seriously, even if there was a theme park in your street your children still would want to drink, concerned parents 1 & 2] but in some areas there really is nothing to do.

Also, I don't think you 'play' on a skateboard. Might be trivializing the scene somewhat.

It's things to do.

Shaun 27-11-2009 06:12 PM

Hmm. Nearby there's only really the cinema, bowling, average shopping facilities or [in summer] the beach.

InOne 27-11-2009 06:18 PM

I live in the cityyyyyyyyyyyy, just a shame it's a **** one. lol

Greggs a British company.

You think they would not conquer America and take over the world like Starbucks if they had the chance?

Yes, growing...

Lauren 27-11-2009 06:58 PM

Greggs? I can't imagine that having the same desire to teens as Starbucks. I mean you can hardly sit in Greggs with your iPhone using their free Wi-Fi whilst sipping a frappachinoiceycoffeefrapmoneyfrescatoey.....or whatever it is that people do in there.

Shaun 27-11-2009 08:21 PM

Starbucks>arista>Gregg's.
