Revising help >.<

urghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
How the hell do you do it? I literally read it, then I cannot remember for the life of me what I just read!

Help me pweese xD How did you revise? I have mock GCSEs this week coming :(

Ninastar 28-11-2009 12:37 PM

I actually never revise. lol.

Lauren 28-11-2009 12:37 PM

I have to be interested in it LOL. Like if I am revising politics (I don't actually do politics but just an example) - I would make myself get enthused about it and have a viewpoint so that I can learn and argue both arguments.

Don't bother making colourful flashcards and pretty posters - as good as it makes you feel you won't learn from it. I learned this the hard way :( hahaha.

pinkmichk 28-11-2009 12:39 PM

i got people like family to test me on the bits i was struggling with otherwise i just blagged it

Nicky. 28-11-2009 12:40 PM

You're helpful Cat haha! :P Lucky too... I don't remember anything, ever!

and I am interested! Been revising RM this morning... love it in class, I do not know anything for the exam though! and ooo ok, I won't do that then! ty!

andand (you all replied whilst typing haha!)

I feel a noob being tested... then I realise even more what I don't know LOL blagging sounds good though :P Xx

Billy 28-11-2009 12:52 PM

I had to revise in school or else I wouldnt do it at home, so maybe stay in school after hours? It may sound geeky but it worked for me haha!

Oh and keep writing it out loads and loads that helped me too.

Nicky. 28-11-2009 12:55 PM

Gonna see if writing everything out works for me now :)

and I hate staying after hours at school, the public bus drivers think that you've had an after school detention or something, and give you proper evils xD

Home is too distracting though, I agree! Xx

Billy 28-11-2009 12:57 PM

Oh.
and get off the internet :P!!

Nicky. 28-11-2009 01:01 PM

Hahahaha!

I was on bitesize, actually :P

So, I'm allowed LOL

Crimson Dynamo 28-11-2009 01:05 PM

Your answer is "active revision"

you have to be writing down what you are learning, that way you brain can assimilate and remember. Reading is not active on its own.

Just keep writing down the things that you need to recall and let your brain do the reat.

write, write, write.

Nicky. 28-11-2009 01:12 PM

Thank you! Got some A3 paper, gonna do loads of spider diagrams! Should work I hope!

Will tell you how I get on Xx

Callum 28-11-2009 01:38 PM

bronaaaa 28-11-2009 07:04 PM

I have tjem after Christmas :bawling:
Writing does work, but like its hard to keep motivated cos it takes forever, and gets tedious :bored:

Nicky. 28-11-2009 11:09 PM

I found writing helps today, although it's very waring! Xx

and thanks again Callum! Xx

MarkWaldorf 28-11-2009 11:11 PM

yeah I agree with Billy. Staying after school really encourages you. When I do it, I make sure I don't leave until I get something really productive done so I can feel happy with my progress.

Lewis. 28-11-2009 11:13 PM

- Stay away from a computer
- Maybe stay after school or go to the library or something

Tom 28-11-2009 11:14 PM

Read for half an hour and take bullet point notes then rest for half an hour
Do the same again for another 25 mins, whilst at the end reading the bullet points from last time and then try and remember whats there
Then another half hour off and so on ...

Thts what I used to do when I could be bothered, it really helped

Nicky. 28-11-2009 11:17 PM

Thanks guys, gonna try it all over the next week... see which works best :3
Except maybe staying after school... xD

Xx

Jords 28-11-2009 11:58 PM

I got mocks after next week, I find revising awful! Cant get in the mood for it :(

SiaSiaSia 03-12-2009 07:22 PM

You can't revise by reading. You only get in 5% of the knowledge in apparently.
You absorb 25% of knowledge by writing facts down
Spider diagrams are good :)
When you teach someone you retain 40% of your knowledge

However if you're revising for a language, you just have to continuously work really hard

SiaSiaSia 03-12-2009 07:23 PM

Lewis is right about the library, whenever I can absolutley not revise, I go there and can work :)

BigSister 03-12-2009 07:30 PM

When i was revising i used bullet points and wrote them down on little cards like flashcards. Or i tried memorising it but the cards worked better

Nicky. 03-12-2009 07:39 PM

All mocks over now! YAHOOOO! :D
Well, except drama tomorrow, but that's just coursework under exam conditions lol xD

I found writing spider diagrams on A3 paper worked wonders!

Xx
