IAC copies Big Brother shock task

Tonight's Bushtucker Trial is the BB9 electric shock task with a few tweaks.

Have the producers completely ran out of ideas now? :o

ILoveTRW 30-11-2009 07:56 PM

i was thinking exactly the same

they copy BB every year

Jimmi5bellies 30-11-2009 07:58 PM

Lets face it, BB started the real Reality TV genre, so technically IAC is a spawn of BB (slightly).

Captain.Remy 30-11-2009 07:59 PM

At least it shows BB is still a bit creative. By the way, this shock task has been copied in Grande Fratello 10 Italy and the whole no furniture house and the crates instead in Serbia.

Slightly? It's basically Celebrity Big Brother in a jungle.

They've had an almost identical camp divide twist for four series running.

It so annoying that Big Brother is still somewhat original and that it's on its way out next year, while I'm A Celebrity still gets huge ratings despite being the same thing every year.

True but it didn't influence today's TV, it has not been adopted in (almost) the entire world and didn't make such big noise and controversy. Big Brother made a revolution in what we consider to be TV shows today.

yes BB has revolutionised tv but BB would of never been created if it wasnt for the real world

and the only reason why BB has been adopted by other countries is because it is a hell of a lot cheaper to make

But it's still more of an experiment, socially and psychologically speaking than the Real World. I'm not saying it's uninteresting, I kinda like it, but Big Brother owns the experimental part. It shows the good, the bad and the evil in today's society and manages to create extreme situations.
Oh well, I could go on and on forever about it and why I love it so much but still, The Real World may be the first, yet Big Brother changed TV forever.

Jords 30-11-2009 08:20 PM

This is true, forgot about that task in BB

There was a guy who has AIDS on BB Belgium in 2006 (or 2007). I've seen a real fight in BB Bulgaria, Russia and Slovenia.

And as for crazy girls, I think we've had some quality ones around the world.

Locke. 30-11-2009 08:29 PM

No it didn't LOL. Just because someone got shocked doesn't mean it copied it from Big Brother :joker:

well really there isnt much to choose between them, but i do feel the real world is completely underrated

Stu 30-11-2009 08:37 PM

The Real World is engineered. The people in it are encouraged to act wild hence why you never see anything like that in Big Brother. Just look at the way it's shot. The way it's produced. I have severe mistrust of any show like that. At least with Big Brother you know they stay locked up with only each other to make contact with.

The Real World is ... well ... bullshit. If we are going to define Reality TV as people doing stuff in front of a camera without a script, there were hundreds of various shows before The Real World.

Big Brother was one of the first, true fly on the wall Reality shows.

Jack_ 30-11-2009 08:39 PM

Was going to post this after the show. It's really starting to wind me up now. They need to get their own ****ing ideas or piss off.

yes of course it is much easier for the producers to interfere with the going ons but i truly believe that they don't , lets face it no one is going to agree to be racist or homophobic on national tv or even get smacked in the face

this trailer proves how immense the real world is

InOne 30-11-2009 08:46 PM

All those annoying yank accents and pointless drama,

People will do anything for TV. Especially with something like the Real World. Producers do interfere. And the people on it certainly know when the cameras are on and are thus always acting to an extent, hence why I think it's bullshit.

With Big Brother it's different. You go into the house and eventually it's just your life. You wake up, you do your thing and you go back to sleep all in this enclosed space with no direct interference from anything or anyone else. Sure you know the cameras are watching you but unless you are in the diary room chances are most of the time you forget and it slips into your subconscious. You can't play up a character 24/7.

In Big Brother arguments happen because 14 locked up wankers will eventually cross paths. In The Real World arguments happen because ... well ... it's the real world. Gotta create some drama sister, etc etc.

As with other reality shows, The Real World has received criticism for being staged.[22][51] During a reunion show featuring the first four Real World casts, Heather Gardner, of the original New York cast, asked some members of the San Francisco cast if their situations were real. She noted that situations from the original season seemed to repeat themselves in the other incarnations, stopping short of accusing them of acting. On an edition of the E! True Hollywood Story that spotlighted the series, cast member Jon Brennan revealed that he was asked by the producers to state on the air that he felt hatred towards housemate Tami Roman for her decision to have an abortion, and that he refused to do so, stating that although he disagreed with her decision, he did not feel hatred towards her. Another accusation is that producers selectively edit material to in order to give the false impression of certain emotional reactions or statements from the castmates.[52]

Some critics see the very concept of being in "the real world" as a misnomer, asserting that in the real world, people do not live in luxurious dwellings for free, are not "given" jobs in the media without any effort, and are not taken to exotic locations for free.[53]

They stole the music used in the bb9 eye teasers im sure of it. >:|

Patrick 01-12-2009 12:36 AM

BB9 was the best BB with the best Tasks is it any wonder people want to copy it :P

Whats annoying is lately Reality Shows make BB UK out to be **** yet every Reality Show has somthing to do with Big Brother in a way.

BB will always be the King of Reality TV
