Richard Pryor

The MSN group convo I'm in's got me scared. Only Linda and I know who he is - and she's left TiBB :(

Any fans?

Tom 06-12-2009 10:28 PM

Had to wiki him but I knew who he was once I realised what he'd been in and stuff

And how come Linda has left this time?

setanta 06-12-2009 10:36 PM

He's an absolute legend. His autobiography is worth reading. Very interesting life.

Stu 06-12-2009 10:37 PM

Absolute genius of the art of stand up comedy.

AfroMullet 10-12-2009 07:05 PM

Yeah i got all his stand up DVD'S, he was a funny dude. R.I.P.

Niamh. 11-12-2009 11:32 AM

Of Course!!! He's a legend!!

Pryor was crazy hilarious. I would think most people have seen Brewsters millions. Ive mainly watched his stand up routines. Most of the black stand up these days are inspired by him, especially Bernie Mac (RIP), or Steve Harvey.

NettoSuperstar! 11-12-2009 11:46 AM

Hell yeh, Brewsters Millions, Stir Crazy! Classics

lily. 11-12-2009 12:46 PM

See No Evil - Hear No Evil, The Toy... Class :)

Probably my favourite sketch of his and the mad thing is that it's all true, albeit slighty exaggerated.

arsenalforever 11-12-2009 12:58 PM

I dont think his movies sucked so much, but i never thought Richard Pryor was a very good movie actor. I liked some of his movies, but in general, I thought he wasnt great in movies. HE seemed a bit too uncomfortable. But when it came to stand up, he was the best. I think he should've done some sitcoms. HE wouldve been great in those settings imo. But he never really did any.

the movies I remeber him in the uncomfortableness was part of the characters though I thought

Ok! I can see that. Maybe that was it then. I just can imagine him doing roles like Eddie Murphy did after his stand up days. Eddie always seemed so confident, and over the top! And that worked. i think RP, probably shouldve done similar roles. :)

NettoSuperstar! 11-12-2009 02:15 PM

Ahh he was hilarious in films, yeh and I liked that bumbling crazinezZ about him

setanta 11-12-2009 02:15 PM

Pity he didn't play the sheriff in Blazing Saddles.

Rubbish. He was involved in writing the script and was supposed to play the part but the producers wanted a less infamous or provocative person in the role.

I cant stand Chris Rock!!
Most people like him but I find him just obnoxious! I dont know why, I usually like most stand ups, but Chris Rock, No comment. DOnt like him at all. cant explain why, because there are people with the same style, that I like. Its probably just his face! :o

lily. 11-12-2009 09:37 PM

I like Chris Rock. He's very similar to Eddie Murphy though, and you can't really compete with him.

And neither of them can hold a candle to the late, great Richard Pryor.
