Simon calls Anti-X Factor Rage Against the Machine Christmas campaign stupid
Simon Cowell has branded the Facebook campaign calling for Rage Against The Machine’s 1992 single Killing In The Name to be this year’s Christmas No 1. "stupid" and "cynical".
At a press-conference he said "If there's a campaign, and I think the campaign's aimed directly at me, it's stupid. Me having a number one record at Christmas is not going to change my life particularly." "It does however change these guys' lives and we put this opportunity there so that the winner of the X Factor gets the chance of having a big hit record. "I think it's quite a cynical campaign geared at me which is actually going to spoil the party for these three. "I also think it's incredibly dismissive of the people who watch and enjoy the show... to treat our audiences as if they're stupid and I don't like that." He also said: "Everyone has this slightly distorted view of Christmas numbers one being incredible. There was that ghastly Cliff Richard song a few years ago, Bob The Builder. So we haven't exactly taken away anything special, it just so happens that our record, to coincide with the show, goes out at Christmas." The X Factor final - ITV1, Saturday and Sunday. |
I call Simon Cowell stupid and cynical

That song reminds me a bit of Kevin the Teenager... 'It's not fair!', 'I won't do what you tell me!', 'I wish I was never born!'

but hey, we dont want people to be successful do we? we want failure. |
Someone's getting nervous, he really doesn't like competition doesn't he? Unfortunately XF is gonna come out on top but I think it'll be close and so does Simon if he's blasting it like this.

I never expect the RATM song to get to number one, but it would be amazing if it got in the top ten. people power!
|
I completely agree with him that its ridiculous and stupid. And yeah wannashag, its just like you said, people dont like to see someone succeed.
Whats even funnier, and so ironic, is that, they are doing this because xfactor is automatically #1, no matter what, because the British public is pre conditioned, so they don't want that anymore. And how do these geniuses go about fighting this? By telling everyone, to buy the same song from 1992. IF it becomes #1, I will laugh so hard, because this time, it wont be just the xfactor they were pre conditioned to buy, but two songs, that they basically followed the crowd, and make #1 and #2. Either way, one will be #1, the other #2, and it will only show that xfactor is even more powerful, because now, they had a hand in the top 2 songs indirectly. Same as last year, with the 2 haleluyah songs. Not to mention, the numerous singles, by different artists, that went to #1, after they were performed on the show. |
I agree with him, which shocks me haha.

I agree with simon.
Its a terrible song choice for christmas number 1. Not enough people will buy it, Ratm just want boosted sales from it. I wouldnt mind if there was a song that was being backed like this one is but was a christmas song, id probably buy it as i want to see a christmas song as number one. |
Simon is right, people want a song like RATM for xmas no.1? Pffft, they are just being spiteful, I wish good luck to the winner of XF, theyve been through a lot to win it, and deserve to do well afterwards (unless they won for stupid reasons, e.g. hes hawt bbz).

is this song related to Florence and her machine? why do they not like her all of a sudden. she is a fox
|
This was a retarded Idea.
Once again Simon speaks so much sense! |
I love that song!!
