Subtitled Films

Would you watch a film with Subtitles?

ARE YOU HAPPY NOW!?

EDIT: I generally mean foreign films but if you watch things with subtitles feel free to say.

Patrick 12-12-2009 03:38 PM

DAMN
I voted Yes because I read your OP.

I ment No!

Tom4784 12-12-2009 03:39 PM

It doesn't put me off, I like foreign films a lot and some of my favourites are subtitled like Battle Royale or Let the Right One In and Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon and The Orphanage.

Ramsay 12-12-2009 03:39 PM

i watch normal programmes with subtitles
its a weird OCD ish thing

Beastie 12-12-2009 03:40 PM

A bit.. but I had to read the subtitles on Emilie because I didnt understand what they were saying!

Stu 12-12-2009 03:40 PM

Subtitled films are great. Really it all depends on how good the film is. Subtitles won't make a difference to me.

Take the Passion Of The Christ for instance. Three quarters of the script were virtually ''AGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH MAH BACK!'' and ''AGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH MAH HANDS!'' anyway so the subs were irrelevant.

It's like any convention really; you grow more accustomed to it as the film progresses and finally accept it as part of the norm. Doesn't diminish the power of a film for me at all - in fact, more often than not it actually adds to the immersive quality of a piece of work.

Princess 12-12-2009 03:42 PM

Yes! This sounds dumb but I hate having to concertate on movies, subtitles don't help, lol! Anyways none of the movies I would watch probably wouldn't have subtitles

King Gizzard 12-12-2009 03:44 PM

Ive only really watched one subtitle film ''Il Postino'' had to watch it for my media a-level. Its kinda hard cause you have to keep up with 2 things, plus the film was boring, but I kinda like subtitles in a way, gives you a complete look at a different culture. cause its unrealistic if you have a foreign film but in english

Stacey. 12-12-2009 03:50 PM

yeh ,,it doesnt really bother me

Scarlett. 12-12-2009 03:53 PM

silly Dezzy asking two questions

King Gizzard 12-12-2009 03:59 PM

Tom4784 12-12-2009 04:06 PM

Braden 12-12-2009 04:11 PM

ILoveTRW 12-12-2009 04:14 PM

the only film i have watched in subtitles is Pan's Labyrinth

MiuMiu 12-12-2009 04:57 PM

"C.R.A.Z.Y." and "Run, Lola, Run" are two of my favourite movies ever, and they are both subtitled.
All the subtitiled fims I've seen so far were great, on the majority, way above the standard of Hollywood productions.
:)

MissKittyFantastico 12-12-2009 05:02 PM

I always have the subtitles on films anyway when I watch them in bed so I don't have to have the TV turned up too loud lol.

So no it doesn't bother me. Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon and Battle Royale are two of my favourite films and they both subtitled.

_Seth 12-12-2009 05:22 PM

Yeah. My favourite game has subtitles on by default and since I can't be arsed to change it every time I play I put up with it.

InOne 13-12-2009 12:41 AM

Stephanie 13-12-2009 12:58 AM

Jordan. 13-12-2009 05:22 PM
