Simon Offers Rival Couple A Job

Quote:

Pop mogul Simon Cowell says he has offered jobs to the couple who launched a successful campaign to prevent The X Factor notching up yet another Christmas number one.

Cowell said he was "gutted" at losing the battle for the top of the festive charts after Rage Against The Machine beat X Factor winner Joe McElderry to number one.

He was no "sore loser", Cowell added, as he revealed Jon and Tracy Morter, who led the Facebook campaign which ended the talent show's four-year run of number ones, had turned down his job offers.

Cowell said he was "genuinely impressed" by their campaign which he said had no funding and had not resorted to dirty tricks. "I offered them jobs at my record company. It could be in marketing or even running the company!" he told the Daily Mirror. "I wanted them to come and work for us. I was deadly serious but they haven't taken me up on the offer."

Cowell told the newspaper he now realised he had "taken too much for granted" and now accepted that some people do not like The X Factor. When the chart was revealed, Cowell said: "I am gutted for Joe because a number one single meant a lot to him, but I have to congratulate Jon and Tracy. I called Jon on Saturday to congratulate the two of them that, win or lose, they turned this into a very exciting race for the Christmas number one. I am proud of Joe - he worked really hard this week, but he has a great year ahead of him."

LOL @ them turning it down :joker:

King Gizzard 21-12-2009 06:07 PM

Lol he was just trying to make them look like hypocrites, he knew they would never ever accept the job offers, they probably werent even job offers that would of happened lol

Jack_ 21-12-2009 06:08 PM

Idiotic cunts.

They probably weren't interested because the the campaign was just against X Factor, and now the job is done. But still, to turn down a job from one of the most successful people in the music industry is beyond stupid.

LOL. My god.

ILoveTRW 21-12-2009 06:17 PM

surprised they didn't take the job

they obviously have a lot of spare time

Tom 21-12-2009 06:19 PM

lose-lose situation

On one hand, if they accept they get called hypocrites and the entire campaign is a farce. Cue conspiracy theories

On the other hand, if they reject they're refusing to work for an almost-billionaire who would give them an impressive wage for a pretty decent job and then they look like idiots

Simon knew exactly what he was doing, he was setting out to make them look idiotic and it has worked

Lewis. 21-12-2009 06:20 PM

Well done Simon. Aha. The whole campaign would have been so much better if it was at least a christmas song they wanted as no1.

Why turn them down? Idiots.... do they NOT WANT TO BE rich!?

Jords 22-12-2009 12:11 AM

Christ you lot are something. Maybe, just maybe, and fathom this thought for a moment ... money isn't everything to some people?

In fact, go wild if you will, is it possible that the couple could actualy be ... happy? ... with the current life they have? And that they don't want to change it?

We're not bashing them because they are RATM fans... True money isn't everything but it sure helps! Especially in this economic climate and its clearly a good job, getting involved with music which they must love.

Cowell called them 'bullies' (ridiculous)....then tried to bribe them after realising they had galvanised more public support than his 'machine' had. Pathetic really.
Who would have thought a facebook campaign could have beaten the X Factor cash cow? I'm not keen on RATM, but I'm glad they've done it. Well done guys!!

I never said anything about Rage?

What's true money? Maybe they have enough as it is? That they would simply rather not work for a guy they were campaiging against for the past two months because they value not looking like hypocritical knobs more than they value money?
