What is the most defining moment of this decade?

What do you think, out of these options on the poll, was the most defining moment of the decade?

Shaun 29-12-2009 10:52 PM

-waits for polls-

but either way, it is 9/11. The impact it's had on the world is immeasurable.

ILoveTRW 29-12-2009 10:53 PM

911 obz

lily. 29-12-2009 10:53 PM

I concur with Shaun.

lily. 29-12-2009 10:54 PM

I'm not going to vote on this poll... as I find some of the choices to be quite ridiculous.

biglover 29-12-2009 10:55 PM

I got these options from an article i read on msn.co.uk the other day

Stephanie 29-12-2009 10:55 PM

fritzl getting caught.

nah, jk. probably 9/11.

biglover 29-12-2009 10:56 PM

I would say 9/11 and Barack Obama, I voted for 9/11

lily. 29-12-2009 10:58 PM

You should take the bottom 2 off.

Maddy McCann is just another missing child. There are millions of them.

Jade Goody is just another dead celebrity. She's hardly worthy of being on that poll.

That's my honest opinion.

ILoveTRW 29-12-2009 11:00 PM

kinga sticking a wine bottle up her fanny is more defining that half of these

Stacey. 29-12-2009 11:01 PM

the disappearance of Maddy.:(
imagine how Kate and Gerry are feeling.
its terrible, that someone would take a child, and madeleine has been a big part of 2009.
Keep searching for Madeleine McCann :)

Shaun 29-12-2009 11:02 PM

I wouldn't count any of the deaths/disappearances/disasters as defining, really. Terror attacks yes, because they have a political and social impact.

Ones I would include are the recession and the increase in the internet - the amount of dominance it now has over the media, entertainment and even retail industries is staggering.

Rory 29-12-2009 11:03 PM

9/11 then the Tsunami.

InOne 29-12-2009 11:05 PM

Maddie or Jade should not be on there. Kids go missing all the time, what is so special about Maddie?

lily. 29-12-2009 11:07 PM

To be honest, a better idea for a thread would be to say what your top5 defining moments of the decade are.. rather than picking one..

atieah2009 30-12-2009 03:43 PM

9/11 Really led the Iraq, Afghanistan war and the capturing and hanging of that vile creature. Jade Goody death of a reality star unfortunate but her impact on the world was Negative at her peak and Madeline McCann it's another child....

9/11 terrorism attacks.
I didnt know much about it because i was only 6 when it happened, but we watch all these DVDs in school about it and then the documentaries on TV when that time of year comes around so i know more about it. It was a truelly devistating time.

_Seth 30-12-2009 04:48 PM

The Tsunami.

I like how currently 9/11 has 11 votes.

Beastie 30-12-2009 05:00 PM

Death of Jade Goody

Twilight 30-12-2009 05:07 PM

9/11

biglover 30-12-2009 05:12 PM

9/11 is way ahead, I agree that it was the most defining moment

Tom 30-12-2009 05:13 PM

9/11. It lead to a lot of the other stuff in that poll anyway (whether directly or indirectly)

Vladimir 30-12-2009 05:19 PM

I'd say Barack Obama. I don't get why 9/11 attacks have impacted the world that much.

Well the world has gone security mad since then, it has set bench marks for other terror attacks that terrorists have tried to replicate (London, Madrid etc) and it was one of the triggers for the War on Iraq/Afghanistan
