Body Language Expert

Body Language expert Dr.Pam Spurr reveals intriguing things about the housemates...

Sisquo
Though he looks pretty relaxed, Sisqo is showing us some classic defensive signals – the type you see when someone’s scoping out a situation. Check out his hat – it's tilted so we can barely see into his eyes, which are the windows to his soul. Then his arm crosses up defensively to his chin, with his thumbs straight up. That thumb placement is critical, revealing that he doesn't want to end up with foot-in-mouth syndrome by saying the wrong thing. His posture also leans downwards.

Stephen
We've got some classic body language signals from Stephen Baldwin! Those palms facing forward give off a double message – he's setting his boundaries on the housemates telling them at a subconscious level not to have a go at him right now. Hands raised like this also call attention to him, so he doesn't want to be excluded from whatever conversation’s going on. But check out that Joker-like smile, with his eyes nearly closed and the upper lip drawn up. This isn't a happy smile but more of an anxious one.

Sov!
Lady Sovereign has just been struck by a thought (maybe a new experience for her!). You can see this in her facial expression – her eyes are wide open, her mouth gapes, and her face is full-on to what she’s looking at. You can almost see the thought spinning around in her brain behind those wide eyes as she works out her next move. As you can see Sov is up for a laugh and her cheeky grin shows this.

Alex
Alex Reid gives a proper big hug to Dane Bowers and he's happy to give it. He has a genuine smile and open eyes in his facial expression – but he's still doing the alpha male signal that he is in charge, by leaning in to Dane and fully embracing him. This signals that he’ll let him get away when he's done with the hug.

Stephanie
Oh dear, hasn't the tea arrived yet? Stephanie Beacham is carving out a quiet moment for herself through her body language. It positively says: "Don't approach me right now!" Look at the way her arm bends upward to block out half of the housemates, partially hiding her face. With her face tipped downwards she completes the picture of an independent moment.

Vinnie
Ahhh… ex-hard man Vinnie Jones shows us his anxious and less secure side. Usually when lying down a person will look fairly relaxed – but check out his arms, tightly up at his sides. But the biggest giveaway is him gnawing on a fingernail – a typical stress signal. Also, by the expression on his face, most people can get the hint that Vinnie doesn't want to be approached at that moment. He's keeping himself to himself by doing chores such as washing up, not adding much to the conversation.

Dane and Nicola
Who said what? Dane Bowers has reacted with a casual smile but with defensive arms crossed across his lap. And we've got little old Nicola T completely hiding her face so she doesn't reveal her real emotions about the situation – that might be shock, surprise, or even embarrassment.

That's all Folks :D
