Should the Weekend be extended?
I think its unfair how people have to go to school and people have to work, alright people need to work for the money so whatever.
But I think School should be a choice, if you want to go then **** and go but if you dont then you shouldnt have to and the social should fuck off. But thats a diffrent topic all together.. I think we all work too much and dont get that much time to actually chill out the only time most of us get to do that is Saturday. Sunday is annoying because everyone spends there time planning the rest of the week anyway so its ****. Fridays are good but everyone still has to get up early and go off to work. I think the week should be cut short. Monday - Thursday should be our week. Friday - Sunday should be the weekend. That means 4 days of School/Work and 3 Days of Chilling Out. That seems very fair to me. So our calenders would look like this: http://i48.tinypic.com/avsolc.jpg Doesnt that seem far beter? Im not saying this because im lazy, and dont want to go to school. Im being serious, like seriously 5 days in a week, then Sunday is spent planning the next day, so no one gets to stay up late or chill out. So in reality were only getting 1 day of a Weekend, Saturday. Does anyone else agree the week shouldnt have 5 days in it, it should be 4 and Friday we should all be off? |
Another day off school? Im up for it! :D
Would mean more homework though, lol. |
No, two days off a week is enough, its how our country has fuctioned for a LONG time, changing it would bring up a lot of problems
|
I've always thought this, either Fri - Sun or the usual weekend and a day off mid-week on Wednesday.
It'll probably never happen though, especially now what with people needing money and all. |
It be weird if Friday became a weekend date, it doesnt sound right if that makes sense haha
|
No.
|
I consider Friday as part of the weekend anyway; I stay up late and do whatever I want to (well, I do that any day of the week now that I'm 18, but y'know!)
|
Leave the week alone it is great
|
It'd only really benefit people in Education really sicne most work places are open during the weeked. I'd say stick to how it is, it wouldn't serve much of a point really for all the fuss it would cause.
|
NOOOO-I,ve recently retired and Saturdays on the roads are murder----7day week for all except the over 60,s--what me selfish-never.
|
I have heard that a lot of schools can't even teach children to read! If there were only 4 school days they would have to make children start school a year earlier or finish a tear later
|
It'd damage the economy and the system of education, plus I don't really see a problem with how it is currently.
|
The only ones to benefit from this would be stroppy, lazy kids with no intention of bettering themselves who hate the thought of school.
i.e. **** all of us with standards of life. |

No, it would cost millions to the economy each week. The economy went into meltdown over the big freeze which was just about a week, so thats essentially 7 weeks of your idea.
I hated going to school 5 days a week (luckily by college it was only 4) but in the long run its benefited me a lot, and nearing the end of year 11 there wasn't enough time in school let alone if a day was lost! 1 day off school each week would mean 39 days off per year. 39 days across 13 years (years 1-11 plus nursery and reception) would mean 507 days off which is 101 weeks off. The average school year is 39 weeks long meaning if the system was the same, people wouldn't even be ready for their year 9 SATs let alone GCSEs. Good idea in theory but it would never work. |
Lol I love how alot of your posts above are acting as if this thread is ment to change the way we live forever its just an idea I think it would be good but its not as if its going to happen.
I agree with Jords, it would give us more time with family and friends and time to actually enjoy life and do things that doesnt revolve around school, life is too short and everyone spends most of their time running about around school and work. |

Thats alot of days off. So in College you dont need to go to it as much as school then? Thats great. |

Our form tutor was saying that we start school too early, 3/4, and we therefore dont see much of our childhood over it. And was saying starting at 6/7 would be much better, and just staying on at an older age.
I think that is more practical than the extra day weekend, which in a way, although sounds lovely, would not work - not enough time to learn courses at school and all the economic reasons you guys have said. |
Money money money...Teachers would lose money as well as perents and workplaces.
