If BB7 was on after CBB5, would it have been axed?
Everyone talks of how bullyish the other housemates are towards some... "bullying" is a word that is used too often when talking about BB.
Look at this series, people said that they were bullying Sov. No way, because she didnt feel affected by it much and it was kind of mutual. Now, if the first week of BB7 would have been broadcast after CBB5, do you think it would have been axed long before? The Bullying of Shahbaz was actual bullying. But it seemed not many gave a **** back then before Jade/Shilpa. Taking CBB5 out of the equation. Shahbaz's tretament was horrible. If we had this year or last year, HMs locking another outside, taking their clothes when their in the swimming pool, shouting and ganging up on them and making them leave after too much, it would have been axed long before. Dont you think that the whole Shahbaz was one of the most sad things you have seen on BB? |
It was indeed, yet BB did nothing to stop it.
It's only in the last couple of years that bullying (in all its forms, emotional, psychological etc) has actually been acknowledged. The treatment of Freddie last year by the playground bullies was also a shameful thing to watch. |
To be fair, shabaz did bring it on himself, he was rude towards the others.
Yes it was hurtful to view, but like angus58 said, bulling is more acknowledged now. I doubt it would of be axed, ratings were good back then |
Meh, I doubt it, the bullying in BB9 was far worse than in BB7.
On the other hand, Fight Night in BB5 and the aggression and threats from Lesley directed towards Sam in BB6 might not have been treated so leniently by regulators or serial complainers. Endemol and BB producers definitely have a lot less freedom than they used to. |
BB5, 6 and 7 were all very nasty.
Even when they never used to intervene, they had to send security in during BB5 and if that happened today it would definitely be taken off air. BB6 would have been too- they had bin throwing, squaring up, sprinkling scabs in food, water throwing, chasing, food chucked over people etc ... that wouldn't have been allowed to happen and almost everyone would have been removed from that series :joker: I don't even think BB7 would have made it to day 2. They had 5 mentally ill people in that series- Shahbaz, Pete, Nikki, Lea and Sam and there was quite a big deal about it at the time. Post CBB5 and that would have been even worse. BB9 was weak in comparison to those, everything was verbal. It was a fairly nasty series but nothing compared to how BB has been. |

How were they mentally ill? They're certainly no more mentally ill than the vast majority of posters on this forum:whistle: |

Nikki- anorexic, OCD and generally unstable Lea- Body dysmorphic disorder (its why she had so much surgery) Pete- Tourettes Sam- Gender issues and generally unstable |

I think the divide in BB6 was probably the most intense one we've ever had to know because it could have turned up in a nasty racist way but as it was before CBB5, that question was out of question. Both groups were being nasty to the bone. BB7 to me, was just a big fat mess. 90% of them were mentally ill freaks who had no social skills whatsoever. It was awful but I got to say, the first week was rather great knowing the whole "Shabbaz" thing. If it happened after CBB5, it would have been seen as horrible and probably the worst series ever. BB9 was just so so light compared to BB5 and BB6, it's not even debatable. It was playground fun. |

Dawn - No social skills, isolated from the rest of the world, total freak. Jayne - Lack of manners and how to act in public. Susie - Gold digger. Aisleyne - Disgusting behaviour, a complete ghetto trash. As for the rest, they were pretty much normal. |

A case could easily be made for people like Grace, Sezer and Rex that they suffered from Narcissistic Personality Disorder and the histrionics of Jennifer, Chanelle and Bea are a far cry from what I would call normal. And what of Dennis and Alexandra who pretty much had the amoral, aggressive mindset of a lowlife criminal? Big Brother thrives on its "special cases". |

All of the people I said do have some kind of mental disorder and that was obvious from the launch night- but I agree that you could argue the case for others. But that wasn't preventable because at first they just seemed normal. I think the way for BB11 is to strike a balance between 'different' and ordinary- get people from a range of backgrounds without any obvious nasty or erratic personalities, which is something BB9 captured so well. BB9 is probably the most extreme they can go in modern day BB anyway. It would be nice for the show to end on a relatively 'normal' note. |
