Davina: 'The last ever Big Brother'

Did you hear Davina at the end?
'Big Brother will be back on Channe l4 in the Summer for The last ever Big Brother, see you then.'

Shes not being very positive for us fans and giving us hope for BB12 Is she?

I mean after BB11 about it moving onto another channel, which lets be honest it could look likely if BB11 Turns out as amazing as this series. Look how successful it is!

I hate when people say 'Last EVER Series' you know?
I mean even if another channel dont pick it up theres still a chance in years to come C4 would reair it.

I think she should of been more positive!

Because shes going to look stupid as will other people if BB12 returns to our screens in a few years after saying last ever.

She could of just said 'Final Series on C4'

Smithy 29-01-2010 10:21 PM

Thats becuase its contract hasnt been picked up yet, what do you expect her to say

Tom 29-01-2010 10:22 PM

I reckon her last words at the BB11 final will be "Big Brother will get back to you".

Either way I won't watch it after BB11 anyway

Stacey. 29-01-2010 10:23 PM

shes sort of Got to say that though :)
theres still hope. ;)

Hope Springs 29-01-2010 10:47 PM

Nobody cares though. And even if BB does return (which it probably wont) Davina wont look 'stupid' for saying 'last ever' after the 2010 celeb edition. Everybody knows that things change, and so whatever Davina says should never be considered to be 'set in stone'. I personally doubt it will air on another channel though anyway - nobody cares about BB anymore, sad but true

Possibly, yes.
Because on BBLB In summer George said that when he read BBs Speech when it was just axed.

I hope she says this as it will really give us somthing to have hope for.

Why wont you watch it?

If its on C4 Would you?
Or what if its on another channel but turns out amazing?

You mean no one cared during BB10.
Get with the times mate that whole 'No one cares' **** was only used on here during summer if no one cared CBB wouldnt of been so popular.

My point is, it probley will be picked up but she still shouldnt of said it like that as if to give fans the impression theres no hope at all of seeing it again.

I'll watch CBB but I'm not sure I'll be able to watch the main series again. Originals are always the best and I'd rather not ruin the summer series even further than what they've already managed to do.

Its quite simple Channel 4 run with it for a while then extended the original commission (contract), they are a commercial tv program so they decided looking to the future, it had just about run out of steam. so they decided not to recommission.

Idf another program offers Endemol uk sufficient funds they will continue to make it. However most of Endemols programs are big money makers for little production costs, BB is one of the more expensive to produce.

Now BB comes as a package, there is the daily humerous update (BBLB) theres the highlight show(recap of main points for the previous day) and there is some live feed. It all costs. Endemol like good money returns, a lot of the returns come in, in the form of sponsorship(dreams, Lucozade) some comes in the bidding for advertisement space just before during and just after the programs.

Because of the commitment in time to any station thinking of airing the program, they have to have a guarantee of return, at the moment BB technically is on a downer as opposed to the first few series where big money was guaranteed.

TV stations arent willing to gamble on it. Not unless some big money sponsor comes forwards and backs it.

Thats the facts in a nutshell, no amount of petitions either online or offline will bring it back, its simply down to money.

Davina could of said 'Well we are back for the KIND of LAST Big Brother.'

DigitalSid 01-02-2010 12:44 AM

1. It's ominous, creates publicity and as we saw with CBB increases viewing figures

and

2. Because it more than likely is

If you were producing a drama and the channel comissioning it told you that they didn't want another season and you didn't know if another would be interested any time soon, you wouldn't not give it an ending if you could, would you?

Fom 01-02-2010 08:17 AM

I think it is always better to leave a program on a high, I don't want it to just burn into the ground until its finished.

If the normal series does come back in the future, i will defenitley audition!! thats why i want a regular series back as well in the future, just looks like its CBB that broadcasters are talking about.

It's more like a soap opera and they can go on for years and years.

For now..

I'm sure when times are better, the show's been rested and CBB has been bringing them yearly success, Five (should they take it) will be interested in it's brother too.

ButterflyGirl 01-02-2010 12:27 PM

:( Hope it does come back..

Stu 01-02-2010 01:08 PM

Oh not this again.

It as a figure of speech. A roll of the tongue. Something not to be looked into.

I second that......Axing BB for genuine BB fans is like axing the cup final for football fans........An annual event part of the furniture that you expect to go on and on for the fans........

Although a lot may be tired of it there are a lot that are not.......Such a shame and I think CH4 will deeply regret their decision.......Their viewer ratings will plummet in the summer weeks i am sure of that..........

Raph 01-02-2010 04:32 PM

aww, it's so sadd =(

thelovelysqueaky 01-02-2010 04:58 PM

Big Brother

Let's hope it's not the end. Why don't they do themed Big Brothers? They might consider all sports people or perhaps Hollywood or even footballers. I think that this recent series was very entertaining.
