Why is the forum becoming so strict?

Seriously?

Princess 28-02-2010 10:30 PM

What do you mean by strict? Not allowing sick jokes? Maybe cos not everyone wants to put up with them. It's in the rules,no one has suddenly got any stricter.

Shaun 28-02-2010 10:30 PM

Is it? I haven't noticed.

Though about time...the moron density on this site lately is absurd.

No, not that, I'm over that.

Just all these threads being closed and people receiving infractions for making 'sexual' poems, as a joke.

It'll come to the point where any form of banter is banned.

Smithy 28-02-2010 10:33 PM

I got an infraction without a reason pmsl

Twilight 28-02-2010 10:34 PM

Princess you close everything funny, and give infractions out to much:(

Most of the time these things are moderated because somebody has reported it. You should see my email inbox - most of the emails I get are reported posts from TiBB.

Beastie 28-02-2010 10:34 PM

Princess has not gave me an infraction or warning yet. The warning for me was from James and the 2 infractions from Vicki J!

I havn't closed anything or given any infractions out in a while.

And Smithy you can see the infraction reason on your profile.

Ross 28-02-2010 10:36 PM

Certain people take things way too far. The mods have to act, they have a duty to do so.

You shouldn't take things personal, if you do wrong then you live with the consequences not just on this forum but in life as a whole. Some people need to realise that some things they may find funny, not everyone will. That's it really. I don't think the mods/admins ban without reason, I've had my far share of bans believe me. I know my limits though.

So if somebody reports something, mods/admins automatically have to close/delete the thread and hand out infractions, because somebody said it offends them?

Pretty much :). It comes down to our discretion, obviously, but if somebody's complained, it's our duty to react to that.

Twilight 28-02-2010 10:39 PM

Eh?? if there was no arguing, this site would be boring.

It's not even anything to do with me this time, just other people.

Like that Tsunami thread that Tom made. Yeah, sure, some people didn't agree that they were disappointed, but I don't see why that's a reason for a thread to be closed. It's a debate...

A debate whether people were disappointed that a huge disaster hadn't happened? Can you honestly not see how that isn't offensive??

And people honestly care about some posts on a forum that much? I think I've only ever reported something once before, and I was much younger back then.

What's wrong with "don't like it, ignore it". Seems a bit silly to me, bit like OFCOM.

Ross 28-02-2010 10:42 PM

People will learn in time.

I personally would kick any of the mods/admins ass right now and not care but I'm a changed person. -sob-

See the points me and Tom made in the thread, because no one's saying that they were disappointed that thousands of people weren't killed.

Well, not really...because we do get a lot of ridiculous reports...like when BB is on, some people feel the need to report people if they say they dislike a housemate.

But if something is reported and we feel people could take offense, the thread can be closed/infractions given
