A man has been charged with robbery after television presenter and former Big Brother contestant Anna Nolan was mugged in Dublin, police said today.

Anna, who will return to Irish screens with The Afternoon Show on RTE in September, was attacked early yesterday.

The former nun, who has presented a number of programmes in the UK and Ireland since her Big Brother break, was said to be very shaken by the assault.

Her mobile phone was stolen in the attack in Long Lane, just off Clanbrassil Street, in the city centre, between 1am and 2am.

An RTE spokeswoman said Anna, 34, was okay, but was shocked and shaken. She has been recovering at home since the incident.

When gardaí arrived at the scene a man was lying on the ground and was taken to hospital by ambulance, a garda spokesman said.

His injuries were not serious and he was later discharged and charged with robbery.

He is due to appear at Dublin District Court tomorrow morning, gardaí said.
