Books/Reading material

Is there or could there be a section for books and reading material anywhere? Like what you're currently reading? Maybe in the interests section or hooked into the films/games etc forum? I'm sure I'm not the only one who likes a good book *ahem* and maybe people could link to good blogs and the like too?

Welcome to the minority. TiBB users who read books.

InOne 04-03-2010 10:31 PM

Yep pretty much haha

Princess 04-03-2010 10:36 PM

I'd love a reading section but yeah not many people on here are proper bookworms.

Kerry 04-03-2010 11:10 PM

I'm surprised there aren't more book fans. Especially as theres a section dedicated to creative writing and blog entries too

Awww shame. I'd have thought it was a major general passtime for people.

GypsyGoth 04-03-2010 11:24 PM

I love books and would like to chat about them.

Kerry 04-03-2010 11:28 PM

I've added to InOnes group. Maybe if it livens up I'll start a thread in general and add the link to the group there? Might get the ball rolling again :)

The thing with bookclubs is the reading the same book thing. I'd rather just read the books I want to,lol. Plus I already have like 25 on my to-read shelf and a bookclub is an excuse to go buy more!

Oh no, I don't like being told/asked to read the same as everyone else as I know we all have such a range of differing tastes. Nothing worse than trawling through a book you can't stand  But if I see a quick review about a book that may grab my interest I'll be chuffed and look it up. I always feel like a kid in a sweetie shop in a bookstore and never know where to start so always good if someones said "hey, this is worth a look" :)

Princess 04-03-2010 11:38 PM

Oh yeah that's different,if someone suggested something and I'd like the sound of it I'd give it a go. Aye I'm the same in a bookshop, sometimes I go in to get one book and come out with about 5 and I'm like 'How the feck did that happen?'

I try not to go on online sites too much, especially with all the recommendations, lol! Plus P&P always ends up being really expensieve.

I recently joined the audiobooks site http://www.audible.co.uk/. You can get a two-week free-trial and two free audiobooks, hah. I might use it more though.

Princess 04-03-2010 11:46 PM

We don't have WHSmith over here but I always pop in whenever I'm in London. Quite cheap and all!

Never tried an audio book. I think I'd worry I'd get distracted.

Yes they always have bargains book-wise. I love the place

I like Waterstones too but they can be expensive. I'm such a sod for a bargain and WH Smiths is around the corner and the 'net infront of my nose at home
