Jedward are Deadwood [There is a god!]

X FACTOR twins Jedward have been axed by music giant Sony after just one single.

The lads - John and Edward Grimes, 18 - signed to the label earlier this year in a bid to cash in on the hype surrounding their time on the show.

But their first song Under Pressure, a duet with ageing rapper Vanilla Ice, failed to top the charts or make much cash for the record company.

It was beaten to No1 last month by American band Owl City and the following week slumped to number 12.

An insider confirmed: "We tried our best to make the lads credible recording artists but punters just weren't that bothered.

"They are great lads but haven't got the greatest voices, so they're something to see rather than listen to.

"Record companies are going through major upheaval so we have to be very careful what we throw our weight behind. I'm sure Jedward will be able to make a buck touring as a novelty act."

The news is a blow for manager Louis Walsh who took the boys on after they were kicked off X Factor last year.

He confirmed the axing last night but insisted: "I'm completely committed to Jedward and I know they still have a great career ahead.

"The boys have a sell-out tour in Ireland straight after The X Factor Tour in April and I'm in talks with a major record label about a new deal for them."

The boys demise will no doubt give Simon Cowell a chuckle - he refused to give Jedward a deal with his Syco label.

He signed X Factor winner Joe McElderry and runner-up Olly Murs instead.

Jayson 16-03-2010 01:14 AM

YESSSS!!!!

Finally, god these twins are irritating. Hopefully that's the last we'll see of them :)

bbfan1991 16-03-2010 01:18 AM

The deal was only for one album:D, good to see Louis is sticking by them and in a cut throat business such as the music industry not a surprise really:(.

Even people who dislike the Twins can't help but comment on the gossip surrounding them just shows what an effect on people they have;).

X Factor stars John & Edward have been dropped by their record company Sony after the performance of their debut single disappointed bosses.

The pair's first release 'Under Pressure (Ice Ice Baby)' - a collaboration with rapper Vanilla Ice - only managed to enter the UK chart at number two last month before dropping to 12 a week later.

A Sony source told The Sun: "We tried our best to make the lads credible recording artists but punters just weren't that bothered.

"They are great lads but haven't got the greatest voices, so they're something to see rather than listen to.

"Record companies are going through major upheaval so we have to be very careful what we throw our weight behind. I'm sure Jedward will be able to make a buck touring as a novelty act."

John & Edward's manager Louis Walsh confirmed the news last night but insisted that he remains "completely committed" to the twins.

He added: "The boys have a sell-out tour in Ireland straight after The X Factor tour in April and I'm in talks with a major record label about a new deal for them."

Bollocks. That's just a nice, apologetic way of saying people hate the guys guts. It's not because they are endearing characters, it's because we hate them .

They're the devil's spawn they've done such a bad thing to people:rolleyes:, save the real hate for people who deserve it but disliking is fine;):p.

Stu 16-03-2010 11:46 AM

No, sorry, I hate them. I'm not getting into these silly arguments about the proper use of the word hate. I hate Jedward and Paedophiles just the same, but in different ways.

Hate's a bit strong though they are just people from a publicity fuelled show as the X-Factor the producers knew that Jedward would have the marmite effect, theres couple of celebs I dislike but I don't hate them:D.

Stu 16-03-2010 11:53 AM

Hate is relative to the meaning you give the word. I am casually using the word hate, here. You probably do it yourself every day. I 'hate' Jedward like I 'hate' being out in the rain without a coat.

If I were to seriously throw around the word hate, then I hate the string pullers. The people behind Jedward who willingly push an untaleted act and degrade the countrys cultural standards. Jedward are merely the vehicle. They certainly aren't driving it. Either way, someone needs to ram it off the road.

jedwood are up there with Holocaust deniers, and will be in the 4th plain of hell.

They were never really going to last very long as singers though, lets be honest!

About time tbh..

Nobody even talks about Joe McElderry any more and he won it! It doesn't mean anything if the record label dropped them, they have a massive tour in Ireland coming up, if they got a presenting job, even in Ireland, that is success. They are doing this by themselves without Simon Cowell holding their hands.

Jessica. 16-03-2010 02:06 PM

Oh ya, Why do people say DeadWood????? It doesn't even rhyme!!!1

What a crock of shit

You can't just feign ignorance and pretend a record label dropping them this early doesn't matter. It does. Sure they might still get a presenting job but that's making excuses for them, not tackling the problem at hand. I expect Stacey will do the same once she arrives in this thread. Ignore the problem at hand and look to the future, making yet more excuses.

And Jedward are doing all this by themselves? You don't really believe that, do you? Holy cow.

Shaun 16-03-2010 02:36 PM

They were just the flavour of the weak. :)

"Ward" does not rhyme with "Wood"

Tom4784 16-03-2010 02:37 PM

My opinion is basically the same as Stu's. Thank ***** for Sony dropping them. Let's hope the fade away and are never mentioned again.
