The Wire
 

This little gem was only discovered recently by me and although I'm only through the first series now, I'm completely hooked. It has everything I look for: great characters who are shaped and developed through a subtle script that opens their personalities up gradually with interesting, often funny and touching group interplay instead of the usual tired exposition that you usually find in shows of this nature; realistic plotlines that immerse you in their world, a world that seems real rather than convoluted; a fascinating insight into the drug trade and policing of it, which steadfastly refuses to preach, giving you so many shades of grey - this is not a simple good guys vs bad guys programme.

Yes, I love it and apparently it only gets better.

I told you about this a few months ago, right? I want to watch it, but I have four seasons of Desperate Housewives and 2nd season of Nurse Jackie to watch.

It's stupidly good. The amount of well written characters with great stories is dizzying. What a show.

I'm so sad because I'm early finished watching it all. Still though, I know I'll return to it again. Just a brilliant series.

Didn't realise Charlie Brooker has been championing this series. If you don't take my word for it listen to this man proclaim it as one of the most ground breaking pieces of television ever made.

Watching from episode 1 all over again, this show just.....I dunno, its got a real charm.
