Siouxsie 27-08-2005 09:12 PM

Fangz 27-08-2005 09:16 PM

Oh, scoobs, I'm not saying anything about you, honest!
It just really upsets me that my little sis doesn't get the help she needs...

Siouxsie 27-08-2005 09:20 PM

aww i know that i would feel the same what is her special need ?

ThaGazBoi 27-08-2005 09:21 PM

I have special needs *Sighs* something called Dyspraxia, Not dyslexia

Ive had it all my life, but im doing better at school then the school ever thought i would :bouncy:

Fangz 27-08-2005 09:24 PM

It's not a specific condition as such, she got whooping cough just after she was born, and as a result she suffered brain-damage. She's also very small and thin for her age, she's six but wears clothes for two-three year olds, and even then they're a bit baggy sometimes.

Her speech is quite difficult to understand for most people (not family-members, or people she spends a lot of time with.) Her balance and coordination are bad and she isn't as mentally developed as she ought to be.

ThaGazBoi 27-08-2005 09:30 PM

Im sorry to hear about your sister Fangz

Fangz 27-08-2005 09:32 PM

That's okay, gaz. She's still really nice and sweet, it just makes me sad to think about the stuff she'll miss out on in life. She's always going to need someone to look after her.

ThaGazBoi 27-08-2005 09:36 PM

Stories like these make me emotinal. I cant belive the pain some youngsters go threw

Siouxsie 27-08-2005 09:37 PM

so does she have speech therapy ?

Fangz 27-08-2005 09:43 PM

No, she did, but now that therapist has moved off-island so she's waiting for the next one to be drafted in from England. That's why everything's so **** on this island, teachers, speech-therapists, psychiatrists, whatever, they're all moving on-and-off island, while the demand for them gets higher and higher...

Siouxsie 27-08-2005 09:46 PM

...Well, it's not pain as such. She just gets frustrated sometimes when people don't know what she's trying to say. Also, some kids can be bastards, I remember an eleven year old boy taking the mick out of her cos she couldn't talk properly. I screamed at him so much I gave myself a sore throat.
