'F*** off back to England

Brian McFadden tells British comedienne in foul-mouthed rant on Australia's Got Talent

A British-born comedienne was stunned when Australia's Got Talent judge Brian McFadden told her to '******* off back to England'.

Anne Ferguson-Howe, a 50-year-old who now lives Down Under, had hoped to impress the judges, who included pregnant Dannii Minogue, with her comedy routine.

However, she failed to raise much of a laugh and the audition in Brisbane descended into a bitter row with two members of the panel.

Channel 7 deleted the scenes from the final cut but not before the family show's reputation had been dragged through the mud.

Mrs Ferguson-Howe, a mother of two, claimed the row ignited when the third judge, Kyle Sandilands, made a comment about her weight.

She retaliated with a reference to the Australian Big Brother host's radio show, which prompted McFadden to jump in, saying 'Get off, get off'.

Mrs Ferguson-Howe told the Sydney Daily Telegraph: 'I then said to Brian "Listen pal, if you're going to dish it out, you've got to learn to take it back."

'Brian pulled his mike off, climbed on stage and very cleverly, without anyone hearing, said: "Why don't you just ******* off back to England?" '

Calling the episode 'horrific', Mrs Ferguson-Howe said that if she had been an overweight 20-year-old girl with low self-esteem, 'I think I would have gone home and shot myself'.

Interviewed later on current affairs programme Today Tonight, McFadden said: 'The problem I had with her today was, which she doesn't seem to remember, was that we have got kids in our audience and then she started to curse and use bad language.

'I didn't want this woman standing on stage screaming profanities when there are children in the audience.'

He was not going to apologise for his actions, because he believed he was in the right.

He added: 'As I was walking out, she came over, kept going and that's when I gave my little blast. I've got no problem - I'd say it to her again if she ever did that again in front of an audience full of kids.'

Sydney's Channel 7 network admitted the exchange had taken place but said they had decided to delete it before the show was screened.

A spokesperson said: 'The exchange was unacceptable and didn't fit with the vibe of the show, so it was deleted.'

Mrs Ferguson-Howe added that if she ever saw McFadden again she would 'whack him' or 'spit on him'.

It was a reference to Sandilands' use of a lie detector on a teenage rape victim that sparked off the vicious exchange.

Upset by the negative reaction to her act, Mrs Ferguson-Howe admits to saying to Sandilands: 'It's easy for you to sit there and have a cheap laugh. When was the last time you had a chat about rape?"'

'After I made that comment to Kyle,' she told the paper, 'everybody went mental'.

This is the latest scandal for McFadden, who has been embroiled in a bitter argument with ex-wife Kerry Katona for the past two weeks.

After calling Katona a 'pig-faced mole' as he hit back against her claims that he was a bad father to their daughters Lilly-Sue and Molly, McFadden accused the former singer of living 'in a fantasy world'.

Daily Mail blah blah

Well its a well used format but this incarnation did start airing in America first. However, its actually created by Simon Cowell and his British company. The UK one started a year later in 2007. I think it would have started here first but for scheduling issues.

Oh how I hate it when that happens. I live in the north of scotland and that sort of attitude really pisses me off when i hear from the locals.

My answer? Get in my car and drive west, then after about 30 minutes I pass a little blue sign and suddenly the rain clouds in my life disappear, the winds die down and the sun shines again in my life.

Whats on that sign you might ask. One word. Culloden.

I'd of thrown the mic at the cocky b*stard.

Whats worse in front of children, swearing (which I believe in Australia its the law to swear in every other sentance anyway) or ridiculing how someone looks? BS.

Spike 30-04-2010 06:31 AM

This story is funny. This show seems very confrontational
I love the panel, much better than the UK version. Kyle, Brian and Danni are so much better than their UK equivalents.

Yeah the judging panel all seems a bit too pretentious....

Simon created the format over here in 2005 or 6 with him, Piers and Fern Britton judging with Paul O'Grady hosting. It was a long process getting on air though. Paul moved to ITV and Fern was replaced with Cheryl Cole. Then Cheryl dropped out and was replaced with Amanda. And they had to find new presenters ... I think we should be on series 5 now but we're only on 4.

I would say Brian should ****** off back to Ireland, but then again that means he's closer to us so he can stay out there. How the hell has he got that job anyway?

Niamh. 30-04-2010 10:12 AM

tbh the woman sounded as wrong as Brian, she insulted him and he insulted her, so I don't think she can act the victim now.

Niamh. 30-04-2010 12:56 PM

having said that it's a funny comment to make considering he's Irish not Australian!

keithafc 30-04-2010 02:47 PM

Brian was in the right tbh.

Exactly that man made a sly comment about her weight.. which is not on! she was standing up for herself :)

Sophii3x 30-04-2010 04:02 PM

Wow, they were so rude to her.. but hey what do you expect from McFadden, the guy is a grade A kn0b. Funny that he thought he had the right to tell her to eff off to England when he isn't even Australian himself!
The only reason he got that job is because he's engaged to Delta Goodrem. Pisses me off that he's been scrounging off her popularity there for ages.

'Conor 30-04-2010 04:04 PM

Braden 01-05-2010 10:22 AM
