The 'Fight For This Love' singer, who has allegedly told friends that she wants to be called by her maiden name, will unveil the new identity on her next CD, says the Sunday Mirror.

"Now she's made the decision her marriage to Ashley is over, Cheryl wants to move on. This name change is the final thing she feels she has to do before a divorce starts moving forwards," a source claimed.

"She's numb about the marriage ending but knows she needs to pick herself up. Throwing herself into work is how she's coping," the insider added.

I think it will effect her popularity. She's gone into the solo world as Cheryl Cole.. Cheryl Tweedy doesn't sound like something people of the public will recognise.

Good for her - why should she keep the name of that miserable little toad she was married to? I would have had no respect for her if she had stayed with him, and now she's made the decision to move on, what better way than to ditch HIS name and truly be herself again?

She became famous under the name Cheryl Tweedy so I don't see how it doesn't suit her or whatever... Good for her. I love the surname Tweedy.

Although I am glad she has finally, and lets face it, it took her long enough, had enough sense to get rid of the creep - I think that as a person and as an artist she is a waste of space! She has made a fortune based on her looks rather than on her talent, because she clearly has none - she should be grateful for that - and retire gracefully! She won't of course - but she should!

Well I am not taking any of this last name crap.. and neither should the public. I don't think her divorce with Ashley is even in talks yet.....

Would not be surprised if she went to Tweedy then back to Cole again.....

Actually - they might be quite well suited - he may be as thick as sh*te - but, to be honest, I don't think there is much between them as far as intellect goes! But then again - he isn't a famous footballer who could help increase her popularity and public persona! Perhaps she isn't quite as stupid as she comes across! :hugesmile:
