Suicide shock in Coronation Street

Coronation Street's Natasha Blakeman is to commit suicide in a forthcoming storyline, it has been revealed.

The Weatherfield hairdresser, played by former Holby City actress Rachel Leskovac, will take her own life after suffering a series of personal setbacks in her final few weeks on the cobbles.

According to reports, Natasha is left heartbroken after her romance with businessman Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) runs into problems. She is also expected to face difficulties at work.

It is thought that the soap's scriptwriters have not yet reached a firm decision on how Natasha will end it all.

A show source told The Sun: "Viewers will be shocked by the storyline, but it will be handled with sensitivity."

Insiders said that Natasha is to show a nastier side before the gritty plotline airs. It is thought that she will tell Nick the truth about Leanne Battersby's (Jane Danson) past as an escort after realising that he still has feelings for his ex-wife.

Meanwhile, Natasha has also been tipped to scheme against boss Audrey Roberts (Sue Nicholls) by trying to convince her that she is too old to run her salon - a plan which later backfires.

Leskovac's departure from Coronation Street was last week announced by the programme's new producer Phil Collinson.

indeed, it is sad, but it happens

Mrluvaluva 04-05-2010 03:02 PM

I was talking about this last week. With Aran's suicide attempt in Emmerdale, I was speculating with others, if the other soaps would follow suit, as seems to be the trend sometimes. And I read today about Syed in Eastenders, and now this. "Wonders which character in Hollyoaks will get the same storyline".

Its a shame as she's a really good good actress, although this sounds like she'll go out with a bang

Callum 04-05-2010 05:18 PM

That is sad but suicide plot hasn't been done in main soaps in a while so will be quite interesting to watch.

Scarlett. 04-05-2010 05:38 PM

Well it has been done, but usually the people doing it survive ;_;

It's a shame she is going, with such a big cast they abondon plots for some characters as they can't cater for all and unfortunately Natasha is a victim of this and could have been interesting:(.

I hope she OD's, i think a load of blood from slitting her wrists, or her hanging from the salon lights might be a bit too much for a pre-watershed show

I suggest her going psycho and killing Sean, Michelle and Molly;).

Maybe she could jump from the top of the new flats only to flatten Grahams' rickshaw on her awkward landing?

If she does cut or hang herself then you wouldn't see it, you'd only see the character that finds her's reaction.

Surprising exit
