This is a Referendum the LibDem wanted.

So Nick should now pick who he wants to Jump in bed with.

Heading Changed and will be changed again soon.

Angus 10-05-2010 06:16 PM

I've no problem with a referendum - after all which party has ever actually taken account of one that didn't produce the results it wanted? I bet that hasn't gone down well with a lot of the Tory party.

Spike 10-05-2010 06:17 PM

It get even more interesting. It coming very close to decision time for Clegg. The longer it goes on the better it looks for Labour

Yes but Clegg can pick a side and stop
jumping.

Tom4784 10-05-2010 06:21 PM

A referendum on what? I'm guessing it's about the election process sicne it was a big part of the libdem policies.

In a way yes, however Clegg will lose credibility in the eyes of the general public if he does try to play one side against the other.

He did announce before the election campaigns began he would not use PR as a bargaining point, when he negotiated with the party who gained the most seats if the election was hung.

The announcement of Labour and the Liberals opening negotiations may have an effect in that the Conservatives may feel under pressure to offer a few more concessions if they see power slipping away from them, the lib-dems not controlling the announcement of the negotiations may feel under pressure not to lose public opinion and credibility and accept a reasonable deal which may have been less than they actually wanted to.

Yes New Labour are Corrupt as Hell.

Harry! 10-05-2010 08:00 PM

Nick Clegg is still in meeting at the moment.

They have ordered pizza now which is the first decision they have made so far.

They are practically all corrupt - corruption is not exclusive to one party! They all abuse their priviledges, given half the chance, looking to line their own pockets before those of the ordinary voters! Labour are no better or worse than the Conservatives in that department!

Angus 10-05-2010 08:16 PM

And yet Labour swept to power on the promise that THEY and they alone would abolish all sleaze and corruption in parliament instead of which they will go down in history as THE most corrupt and dishonest government we have ever had. If there were no other reason than the illegal war in Iraq (which Labour supporters conveniently neglect to mention when eulogising about them) that would be sufficient reason for them to be kicked out of power - pity no criminal charges have been brought yet.

Lol Harry - what flavour I wonder, or will that take them another day to decide?

My bets that the pizza will go out of date before they decide.

2149 The Lib Dems are guilty of "a form of betrayal" by opening talks with Labour after being offered compromises by the Conservatives, Phillip Blond, director of the Tory think-tank ResPublica, says.

Minority Conservative Government is the way forward - Cameron should withdraw all offers to Clegg and go it alone.

Clegg must say Today which way he is Going.

He can not sit on this for weeks.
If Clegg can Not control his own party
then we will never ever have
him in power.
This is about Democracy
It is Important to British and Scottish and Welsh and North Irish.

Clegg said its for the nation
we now find out his Party tell him how to talk.
Pathetic.

ange7 11-05-2010 10:34 AM

"This is about Democracy"
Dems can and should talk to both sides. The idea that the lib dems have betrayed the conservatives is laughable. Libs dems must make the best deal they can. Only talking to one side gives them zero negotiating power...
People are saying a lib/conservative party is more stable because it has greater numbers. Rubbish... since the lib dems are politically closer to labor than the cons so in te event of them forming a coalition there would be far less in fighting with a lib/lab coalition than a lib/con coalition.

wrong ... a minority conservative government would find it extremely difficult to pass laws. Cameron knows that.... you apparently don't.

arista 11-05-2010 12:47 PM
