Back to Basics

I don't know about everyone else but personally I think for the final year (on C4 anyhow) I think they need to take BB back to basics, like it was in the start. By that I mean, really limit contact with the outside world, make them forget about it and focus on the fact that the house is their whole world. The last few years we've seen, ex bfs/gfs going in, current bfs/gfs going in, mothers going in for tasks, previous years HMs going in for tasks, world information been given to the HMs, even last year HMs being sent out on the streets of London and now I hear there's talk of BB11 being linked to some other show as well.

For me all these things have contributed to BBs downfall. BB is no longer a scary faceless ruler and God to the HMs. BB needs to get tough, you break the rules as fundamental as not nominating, you're OUT end of. You have as little contact as is possible with the outside world and we can focus in properly on the house dynamics and relationships like it used to be.

Big Brother has gone over the top in recent years but that's no reason to go back to basics, IMO. Big Brother needs to go foward or recreate the magic of, say, Big Brother 5. I don't want to go back to 2001.

We need twists. Lots of them. They just need to be well done and well advertised. Go back to basics this year and Big Brother goes out with a whimper.

I totally agree, especially because of the task in London, what the **** was that about?

And I want them to go back to when there was three warnings and then your out if you get to the third, I think Big Brother has been letting housemates have an easy ride in more current series.

What if we had kicked Siavash and Marcus out though, under the three strikes rule?

I don't think it would have helped in the slightest. No, let them rebel. It makes for good TV. Just punish them in bizarre ways afterwards, that also makes for good TV.

Entertaining housemates leaving through the back door makes for piss poor TV.

BB5 was excellent, my second favorite series but they didn't have much outside world contact in that series either, it's only in the last 3/4 years they've started doing that.

And absolutely agree with you on the Twists front, and BB5 is a great example of that, the bedsit twist was fantastic. I can't understand why they haven't done more twists like that, sending in people that the HMs know is a crap and lazy and that's all they've done the last few years

Depends on the rule breaking though I think, Siavash was my favorite HM but even still, they should have *****ed him out for not nominating, that's one rule that they shouldn't bend on

Beastie 12-05-2010 12:11 PM

In terms of back to basics.. well I hope this does not mean the house.. I want the house to be colourful and funky and WOW! However I would love to see the CHICKENS come back for bb11! that would be amazing :D
I agree there should be NO contact what so ever! except ONE letter you get like 2 weeks before the final. Should NOT be a video... or anything!!
Also NO ex boyfriends/gfs, mum, dad, bro, sister, friend, rapist, teacher, colleague you know or anyone at all you know! We want a bunch of complete strangers please!! Also I hope Big Brother's big nose does not happen.. we don't give a sh!t about the housemates family members.. we just want to see the housemates please :) except for family members going on BBLB but that's it!!
Also punishments.. I think if you talk about nominations you are up for eviction straight away! no pussy footing around. Mmm was thinking on your 3rd strike you are out.. however we do want entertaining ones in.. but BB's job is to put ALL entertaining housemates IN.

Well if we are going to define Back To Basics just as not letting in contact with the outside world, then I agree entirely.

Beastie 12-05-2010 12:14 PM

Also to be honest.. I would not mind if this million pound drop had something to do with BB.. mmm.. I mean BB needs a fresh new format.. a change.. new twists and turns.. however the contact with the outside world should remain NIL POIR.

Yeah sorry, that's what I meant, and also in the toughen up of BB. BB has to be the boss, the HMs just p*ssed all over BB last year

DrunkerThanMoses 12-05-2010 12:16 PM

I agree they need to stop information from the outside getting in. They need to be evil and strict like in BB5/BB6. The need good twists that screw with the housemates heads. To me this is a good big brother, but thats my view.

I think that shows that they should of got lots more entertaining housemates last year, instead of dull ****ty ones.

But I think your right about punishing them bizarrely.

Not sure if I'm too keen on that idea but I don't know enough about that show and what exactly the link between the 2 will be to have much of an opinion on it yet

I think it is because some of them didn't care about the money.. especially Sophie.. but she knew she would get paid more than the 100 grand when she leaves BB because usually the "glamour models" do..

So anyways this is when the million pound drop comes in.. I do think if there is a million quid to be won.. EVERYONE would want to stay in BB and have a chance to win that money!! a staggering amount. The million pound drop could bring in plenty of viewers.. the show being twisted in a twist relating to BB and.. well I just have really good hopes for the show now! :D all we have to do is "wait and see.."

Stu 12-05-2010 12:18 PM

I actually don't think BB needs to change at all. It's too late for a new format. I think trying to recreate the glory days would be a better idea. Get back the 2m+ who buggered off and pull in a new generation with classic, trashy BB.

exactly, and this is what most BB fans want but they don't seem to listen at all, I mean if they read through some of the ideas and opinions posted here and probably DS last year, they could have used alot of it to make this years show brilliant and just what we all want!

Yeah but.. mmm... it just depends what housemates we get I suppose.. I just think the housemates will be more scared of BB and play by the rules if there is like a million quid to be won. Whatever they do I am looking forward to it. Having the best, entertaining housemates should be number 1 priority!!

I thought last years was the best that they had done in a while. It had a war between groups, fake romance, Norian the flirt, some good entertaing housemates, maybe some parts where crap like Issac going in, but I think its a underrated series.

This year I want bitching, back stabing, punishments, good intresting twists. That to me makes a good series.

None of this crap that wannabe celbes like jedward going in.

I think bb10 would have been better if Lisa's group was not that big.. because Freddie's camp had no one... It is like.. team chav won to be honest.. so I suppose we need less chavs for bb11..

No doubt that last year had a brilliant group of HMs, as much as I disliked most of them, they were brilliant, annoying, bullies, eccentric, flirty, they had it all but unfortunately BB didn't capitalize on them enough, they could have made it one of the best series with a little bit more thought and imagination but in the end it was the HMs who carried it and made it just work.
