vt frauds!
 

the thread about caroles vt just reminded me about this. doesnt it piss you off when people seem like really great housemates on their vt but are actually nothing like that? i only started watching at BB6 and i was like OMG i love this girl with vanessa from that year but she was as boring as a yawning hippo in the house!

Alot of the time they can't be the way they are in their VT's due to many things. Maybe they're being overshadowed by other housemates, maybe the editing on them is bad and we don't see them being the person they were on their VT.

or maybe they just act like that on their vt to get into the house :dance:

I agree, I judged Vanessa as my favourite from all six series by her VT, and then she really disappointed me in the house :/

You have to remember that VT's will be heavily edited to create an initial impression of a character. Prime example being Sophia last year being portrayed as this lovely short girl, but not much mention of a temper.

ikr it was the first time i had ever seen BB on launch night of BB6 and when i saw vanessas vt i was like omg my life is complete :elephant:

I remeber Maysoon (BB9 if you forgot ;)) she was like "I live life on the edge" then she gets in the house and disappears.

Yeah it does annoy me i dont get why BB pick these people.

sophia was a better hm that i expected actually. im a nice person and i do like nice people but im sorry i want the BB house to be bursting with bitches and bastards

Sometimes they also exaggerate certain parts of their personnality (Mikey, with his misogynistic views, probably Vanessa too).
Bonnie's VT was boring and she was boring. I still wonder why they chose her.

Yeah but BB8 VT's were created before the Launch and after the auditions.

Dawn and Dale are the only 2 (that i can think of) that actually bare faced lied in there audition
however a lot of housemates have over acted there personalities to get on

bb7 was the king of fake vts

1.mikey-acting really sexist
2.dawn-acting depressed
3.aisleyne- acting like a b****
4.susie- i know she didnt have one but she told them she was always horny
5.hate to say it but bonnie-wasnt really that funny

should i go on?

The purpose of the vt is to get fans booing and cheering on the opening night.

It has less and less and eventually no significance as the show continues and we judge the HMs on what we see in the House.

And it's what we see in the House (as much as we are allowed to see) that determines the winner.

Bonnie, Vanessa, Laura, Mikey, Dale, Carole etc....

Bonnie made it seem she would be funny, Vanessa that she would be entertaining, Laura that she would be loud, funny and the mad Welsh one (epic fail), Mikey and Dale- Acting very arrogant when Mikey wasnt really like that, and Dale didnt do anything like he said in the VT "I'm gonna nail it" etc.... Jen as well.... turned into a bitch.

Ones that turned out to be best, were Aisleyne, acted like a complete bitch in the VT, and became my fave housemate ever.

haha and when she got the chance to win clothes back " uhh, i want my pink sweater.. the pink hoodie sweater, it has a zipper and a logo and its pink, and has pockets" and then glyn just said "blue sweater, jeans, red shirt, welsh shirt" ect.

Well of course you make a good observation and complaint although I'd say there are some cases I see an explanation.

Contrary to popular opinion I think BB9 Rachel was not 'acting' her VT and that actually was her personality WHEN excited and that she genuinely was 'muted' when overwhelmed by negativity.

Someone else mentioned it can also be the VT is the 'real person' but the house is where they are 'not their true personality' and sometimes its not a deliberate put-on but a psychological 'defense' too.

But I do think you are right to complain a few have been seen putting on a 'character' they practiced for auditions but after getting through the doors it appears they were now 'off-stage' and then just sat about being themselves... which were NOT the 'VT Characters' at all.

Even though I find our BB is really fair with editing overall (compare to the blatantly obvious editing manipulations on BBUSA),
but,
even still, you can tell they will edit some HMs to show you just a certain kind of side of them sometimes.
Example:
- You could see our previous example BB9 Rachel spending plenty of time engaging with everyone, splashing about, all joking and getting along,
but,
the clip show would tend to show you the incident where she girly-giggled about loving Disney characters,
and,
when she chastised Rex for being too cruel to someone.
Those were her 2 highlight clips.

Another thing to keep in mind is that BB has made a living out of DELIBERATELY CHOOSING the fake VT people,
and,
we have loved it!
We WANT to see that 'obvious fake' granted their wishes and then have a great big laugh when they are exposed for who they really are.
That it makes you angry to see VT phonies is actually part of the plan.

But agreed - your real complaint is the total do-nothings. They were not only fake personalities but then had NO personalities after all.

No one is going to believe that mate, so don't even go there. To this day, Rachel is one of the worst winners in the history of reality TV and one of the most boring people on TV.

The VT can be vital. It can decide a lot of things. Dales VT in BB 9 sounded like one of those no nonsense people, Rachel sounded like a bubbly character but turned out to be terrible.
