The Verve

are rather good. Discuss.

Iceman 12-05-2010 08:53 PM

Brilliant band, saw them at Oxegen 08, wish they could just not be idiots though and put differences aside for good, love is noise was a great comeback song from them.

InOne 12-05-2010 08:58 PM

Yup, one of my all time favs. Ashcroft is a god. Shame they couldn't work it out and that 'Forth' was an epic album.

Captain.Remy 12-05-2010 08:59 PM

They are the ones who delivered my favourite song ever EVER "Bitter Sweet Symphony" so they earned all my respect for that. They're good.

Iceman 12-05-2010 09:00 PM

didn't like at Oxegen when ashcroft went all bono and started going on about how much money ronaldo gets paid and so on, i was like im here for the music not a lecture,,,,,sing!

Ramsay 12-05-2010 09:00 PM

Listening to Forth all the way though

InOne 10-07-2011 09:32 PM

If love is a drug then it aint for me

Ninastar 10-07-2011 09:33 PM

Now the drugs don't work, they just make you worse

seanraff07 11-07-2011 12:23 PM

The Verve are amazing.

I love listening to the 'Urban Hymns' album, pretty dark then all of a sudden at the end 'Come On' belts out, what a banging tune.

Nick McCabe and Richard Ashcroft are gods.

Talented band, though I tend to prefer listening to Oasis. Used to sing our hearts out to Oasis travelling down to London back in the day when Rugby League Challenge Cup Finals were held at Wembley Stadium, and my home town boys....Saints..... were playing! Good times :)

I'm having a Verve day :pipe:

JamesBond007 05-02-2013 07:43 AM

great band with two classic albums in Northern soul and Urban Hynms but their best song was on their debut album for me.

Didn't think Fourth was all that bad but lacked that killer vibe they had in the past. Ashcroft and Mccabe were the mid 90's Squire and Brown for me with a bigger drug intake.

InOne 08-02-2013 01:37 PM

What about A Storm In Heaven? It's a bit more 'out there' but love the long winding tracks they do

InOne 08-02-2013 01:38 PM

Oh, never mind, see you mentioned it with the song LOL

Yeah that's definitely one of their best.

Wonderful album just listening to it as the sun goes up is always a wonderful thing :). The Verve always had that poetic side to them other bands at that time lacked. Ashcroft lyrics were a thing of beauty and Mccabe's Guitar work is still out there.

I actually quite like Forth is as well. Love Is Noise is a great song. The album does still sound like it's in the 90's, but in my view there's nothing wrong with that!

it was ok just smelled of Richard ashcroft solo stuff at times. But Love is noise is brillant.
