I have to say I'm rather confused as to why Joe Pesci got one for Goodfellas. He's incredibly typecast and his role in the movie was minimal to say the least. Maybe it was a slow year.

The obvious injustice is Michael Clarke Duncan not winning (the same award) for The Green Mile. Michael Caine? Pah.

Liam Neeson not getting it the year of Schindlers List. I mean what the hell. All due respect to Tom Hanks.

Ralph Fiennes not winning for Schindler's List pi$$ed me off more actually.

Edit: Tommy Lee Jones won for the fecking Fugitive instead!!!

And incidentally, do you know who was up against Tom Hanks the year he won for Philadelphia?

Daniel Day-Lewis, Laurence Fishbourne, Anthony Hopkins and Liam Neeson! What!

There were countless undeserved Best Movie wins at the Academy Awards.

Titanic, Gladiator, American Beauty, Forrest Gump, Rocky, A Beautiful Mind and the English Patient off the top of my head.

Plus the consistently inept Nicole Kidman winning best actress for the Hours and Denzel Washington winning Best Actor for Training Day.

I'll never understand why they gave it to Titanic ahead of LA Confidential. Madness

I always woundered why in some cases actors or actresses are nominated or win best supporting actor/actress when their the lead star?

I just saw Ordinary People, and Timthony Hutton won best supporting actor, but he was not only the male lead but the lead character? SHocked he didnt got nominated/win the best actor award?I mean was he too young? He had more time on screen then Donald whats his name.
