Bonfire Night.

It's a Saturday night this year! So, what's everybody doing on the 5th of November?

~Kizwiz~ 03-10-2005 04:15 PM

The view from my garden looks over half of Bristol so Bonfire night is awsome at my house! The whole place lights up!

So I shall be sitting in my garden with a glass of wine in one hand and a sparkler in the other!

Sweet! Nice images.

I am against Bonfire night, it is far to dangerous and alot of trouble and accidents always happen around bonfire night. I think it is ok if there is a local bonfire/fireworks party on but totally disagree with the public being able to buy fireworks.

I agree that they shouldnt be sold to joe public! I had a bad experiance one new year where a rocket headed straight for the house and nearly hit my family.

In the worng hand they can be leathal!

bbslilspy 03-10-2005 04:54 PM

~Kizwiz~ 03-10-2005 04:54 PM

Yeah but on Nov 5th 1605 Guy Fawkes tried to blow up the Houses of Parliament with gunpowder. Which is why we have fireworks on this date!

I'm really lucky too, because from our bedroom window, we can see for miles, and there's always loads of forework displays. So I'll be doing much the same as Kizwiz...a bottle (or a few) of wine and lots of munchies.

Does anyone realise it is the 400th Anniversary of the Gunpowder Plot

Anyone got any decent treacle toffee recipies?

Ruth 04-10-2005 02:52 PM

Fireworks seem to be a year long thing now, not just for one night anymore!

Princess 04-10-2005 04:24 PM

We havent got bonfire night in Ireland

sol 04-10-2005 06:01 PM

We get a letter through our letterbox each year before bonfire night reminding us not to have "loud banging" fireworks coz i live in the country side adn it makes horses go mentle or summat :bored:

Siouxsie 05-10-2005 03:08 PM

well i have a great view from my window of penshaw mounument so i will be watching from there as i hate the noise of fireworks

Ruth 06-10-2005 02:34 PM

Just remembered that we have some friends coming round for a meal on bonfire night, so I will no doubt be eating too much and drinking too much wine.

Sunny_01 06-10-2005 02:40 PM

I go to the local display organised by the fire brigade and police - it is always something a bit special to see. Then we usually consume lots of beer on our return home!!

Siouxsie 06-10-2005 09:31 PM

penshaw mounument is one of my fav places! I used to go there when I was a little girl

sesamestreetz 07-10-2005 10:43 PM

I'll be watching out of my window! I LOVE fireworks :D They're so preettttty.. and there's a nearby place that sets off loads... I like Bonfire Night a lot! But usually I spend my time watching the fireworks and trying to stop the cat going outside! (She's not fazed by them at all, but I don't want her being in danger)
