Makosi to co-present Channel U awards

Quote:

It is with great pleasure that we announce that the hosts of Channel U’s inaugural “Best of British” urban music event will be Simon Webbe and Makosi Musambasi.

The countdown is on to the Channel U Best of British Awards 2005. Channel U viewers are now voting for their favourite artists and the top 15 will perform and receive a Best of British Award in recognition of their talents at London’s Shepherds Bush Empire on the 15th October.

Originally from Zimbabwe Makosi has become a household name thanks to Big Brother 6. The 24-year-old former nurse was a popular personality and although she did not win the cash prize she was one of the standout characters of the show.

Fresh from the massive success of his debut solo single ‘Lay Your Hands’, Simon Webbe finally will be releasing his highly anticipated debut solo album ‘Sanctuary’ on November 14th. At only 26 years old, Simon has already gained more experience in the music industry than many artists attain in a lifetime thanks to his time with the million selling group Blue.

Makosi and Simon are pleased to be a part of an event celebrating the raw cutting edge of the UK urban music scene.

Tickets to the Channel U Best of British are now on sale. Tickets can be booked at Ticket Web or by calling 08700 600 100.

Vauxhall sponsors the Channel U Best of British Awards in association with Choice FM and Virgin Mega Stores.

Thanks for the info. I wonder if she'll get booed this time?!

P.S. Love your avatar James.

I can understand Simon doing it as he knows what he is talking about in the music industry but Makosi?....err what has she got to do with music? I can see it being more about her than the awards.

brrrrup! channel u AND big brother! dayyymn!

Lance 04-10-2005 04:36 PM

Erm, why Makosi exactly? She hasn't got any links to the music industry, does she?:puzzled:

Kaz 04-10-2005 07:31 PM

Not that I'm aware of, Lance!

Seems a very strange choice to me ....... wouldn't bank on her getting a good reception from the crowd either!

MAKOSI HIT BY BOOS

SPARE a thought for Big Brother star Makosi Musambasi. The diva is worried sick she might be deported from Blighty for breaking the terms of her visa by quitting her nursing job to go on the reality TV show last summer.

So imagine her horror when she was booed non-stop while co- hosting the Best of British alongside ex-Blue singer Simon Webbe at London's Shepherd's Bush Empire.

My mole tells me: "Makosi was very distraught backstage.

"She was acting the big star beforehand. Makosi was telling everyone this was a big moment for her. But it all ended in tears."

Get the tissues out ... not!

After the booing she got when she came out of the BB house, what on earth did she expect?

I hope the lovely Simon didn't get any boos though!

What did I say?

Science was there too

photos of Science and Makosi at Best of British awards

(I hope you dont mind me linking to my site..but I'm not sure how to post pictures here)

Science should have been presenting the awards, not Makosi. But I guess they wanted one male and one female presenter, and they already had Simon Webbe.

jrc 26-10-2005 08:35 AM

Even if they did want one male and one female, why pick someone so incredibly unpopular like Makosi? They must have she would get booed and drag ratings down, so why do it?

Ruth 26-10-2005 11:33 AM

Couldn't agree more jrc. I had quite enough of her during BB6 - don't want to have to see her again.
