A teeny, tiny example from a specific branch of science got something wrong. Well done. I never claimed it was perfect, did I. Science has a pretty good track record though. It seems to improve with age whereas religion tends to go the other way. I wonder if most lives saved in hospitals can be attributed to science or prayer?

I was not really trying to highlight either science or religion but more the myth that where we are today is the truth

With young people, maybe. But I doubt anyone thinks this is the apotheosis of the species. Evolution didn't stop with opposable thumbs.

I "hear" that medicine is becoming stronger and i heard a report that in the next generation, people will generally live over 105 years old.
Apparently right now the rate is growing and getting higher, so we are more likely to live longer than people 100 years ago did.

By the time teens like me are 50, they could find out that in that many years we could all live beyond 100. And in 200 years time, our great great great great granchildren could live until 140.

I want to live until I'm old. I love life too much :)

I am sure that there will be a discovery about space within 200 years that will negate a lot of what we "know" now

Meh, I think we have it nailed now. I mean back when theories were smashed the world was very different. Now we have scientific bodies cross examining every little detail, and all the popular theories about the space time continum confirm each other and fit into place. We wouldn't have accepted them if they didn't.

We have a massive amount of technology now, and the ability to send ourselves into space. Things are a lot different from Aristotle's idea of absoloute time beng smashed by the concept of relativity.

Then again ... you never know. Which is the point of the topic I guess. But I think things will continue to build on each other. I doubt one of the current blocks will have to be taken out and replaced.

Yes will be good for those who love life, and apparently people will look healthier, so a 120 year old will look like a 95 year old... not like there will be a difference.

Bad news would be the worls population will be so over crowded, there will be loads of pensioners and old people... so money running out, however more people will be on buses.... weird how all of this came out of this report,

I do, okay yes we will be so unbelievably fragile. I want to be immortal and stay the same age and go no older than 30-35... I would just stay the same age.

A cure for death?? It would be just like the Family Guy episode when anyone can jump off buildings, wreck havoc without hurting themselves. :laugh:

Immortality would be horrible. You would eventually spiral into insanity after a certain amount of time I imagine. Our brains simply aren't built to handle it. They start to struggle at 50-80 for many people, let alone 100+ years.

It would also be incredibly depressing. You would be going through endless cycles of friends, family and their funerals.

Mortality is a beautiful thing :).

TRue. Nothing like that will ever happen, but in 500 years time, people will be living longer, if the recent 500 years is anything to judge by.
