when you have the hiccups, get a teaspoon of sugar and swallow it.... you'll then find your hiccups have gone withing a minute.

That can't possibly work.

You are supposed to get someone to cover your ears, whilst you drink a glass of water without stopping. The only thing is, you burp like a brewer!

I find holding your breath for 20 seconds does the trick.
