Twitter # tag Removal

From @TotalBigBrother

Twitter have banned the #BB11 hashtag from Trending due to #CBB7 trending every day in January #BB11

You_Tell_Me 12-06-2010 10:46 AM

Thats stupid, if BB is what's being talked about most of course it should be allowed to ****ing trend.

Callum 12-06-2010 11:00 AM

Yet they allow about a hundred Justin Bieber tags a day, so unfair!

Maybe people are mixing it up with the american bb and that is why the tag is banned. then they should do it all bb# for all countries then. or maybe they don't want a brit big brother in another country? Conspiracies! why am i saying that i'm american and i like bb in usa.

Update: I tried #bb11uk still registers as a tag and #bb12usa

Jords 12-06-2010 02:28 PM

Sounds ridiculous..

King Gizzard 12-06-2010 02:28 PM

Yeah #bb11 was banned just before the launch, cause it was trending all day then when it started it vanished

tmx 12-06-2010 02:32 PM

Nothing's been "banned", Twitter changed it's trending algorithm.

Things which trend all the time/very often such as #bb11, Eastenders, Justin Beiber will no longer trend

BBfanUSA 12-06-2010 02:38 PM

for some reason it is registering as some downloading thing for some reason

Its ridiculous that some things aren't allowed to trend but some are
If something is being talked about most then it deserves to trend, its not anyones decision to decide.
The World Cup will be trending for the next month, they going to remove that too?

"They" don't remove anything, it's just an algorithm

Quote:

The new algorithm identifies topics that are immediately popular, rather than topics that have been popular for a while or on a daily basis, to help people discover the ‘most breaking’ breaking news from across the world. (We had previously built in this ‘emergent’ algorithm for all local trends, described below.) We think that trending topics which capture the hottest emerging trends and topics of discussion on Twitter are the most interesting

Why do you go on and on about America, it's not our fault it got banned. I mean damn we live in a totally different country, thing's we do doesn't always effect your country. Every time something happens to you Patrick you blame us like just **** about America already and find another place to blame every thing on, I think we get blamed enough for stuff already we don't need all your problems as well.

Did you even bother to read the ****ing thread before posting?

If you did you'd realise things like 'Justin Bieber' are also "banned".

its just like facebook how you do status updates, you just update whats going on and stuff and talk to people. Its basically just the status part of facebook and all your convo's are public. It's easy after awhile.
