This should be Englands national anthem
Gets me fired up more than the GSTQ rubbish
And did those feet in ancient time Walk upon England's mountains green And was the holy lamb of God On England's pleasant pastures seen And did the countenance divine Shine forth upon our clouded hills And was Jerusalem builded here Among those dark Satanic mills Bring me my bow of burning gold Bring me my arrows of desire Bring me my spears o'clouds unfold Bring me my chariot of fire I will not cease from mental fight Nor shall my sword sleep in my hand 'Til we have built Jerusalem In England's green and pleasant land 'Til we have built Jerusalem In England's green and pleasant land |
I want to sing about the country when I think of england, not the Queen
Good for you
Iv always thought this, why sing about the queen when were england, not queen
Quote:
ot: We sang this at the end of every assembly in secondary school. Rather good indeed. Though why you'd want to build Jerusalem here is beyond me. I guess it would take away (what is currently an abundance of) religious tension from the Middle East. |

Doesnt have the emotion for me
Maybe for the GB Olympic team, not the England football team |
William Blake, he was actually decrying how the mills had turned Britain into hell.
Doesnt take away from what the lyrics appear to mean. England and battle
God save our gracious Queen!
I know its not about the country but i mean, it is pretty great. |
The actual one should be Land Of Hope And Glory. Im sure thats what is played during the commonwealth when England win summat, though I could well be wrong. But if not that, then im sure its used for one sport somewhere.
The GB/UK one should be GDSTQ, and the other nations keep their own anthems when its just them. |
PS - though anthems are dumb
pps - as are flags
