Are we being fair to Jade

First I have never been a great fan of Jade, however I am beginning to think that she is being exploited and that BB should be doing something to protect her. When you watch BB on E4 there are often sound gaps and so on, this is generally to protect companies, family members etc......(not forgetting swearing) however they did not feel able to blank out our screens when a very obvious vulnerable person took her clothes off in front of the nation, now I may be speaking out of line here but they have a duty to protect everyone in that house and to be honest I think they are failing to do this. Here is a headline from a national paper for you all to look at and see what you think:

Big Brother bullies little sister

Channel 4 and the tabloids create hate figures for profit, and a vulnerable working-class girl is paying

I wonder what everyone else has to say about this, but please not "she knew what she was getting into" because I don't think she was prepared for this!!

Hi Summer. Well, I agree with you about Jade. I admit I really didn't like her at the start but now I just feel sorry for her. I think she's just naive and therefore made herself vulnerable to alot of criticism by doing some really stupid things. I definitely don't think she deserves to be slagged off or made fun of. However, I feel that most people are actually warming to her now and she will be fine when she leaves the house. :elephant: :elephant: :elephant:

Steady on!! I think the way Jade is going, she is definitely playing for the sympathy vote at the moment. The problem is that she is doing so well, she could end up winning the show at this rate and I jest not!

I know that sounds sceptical, but to me she seems like a little kid, and children can be VERY devious!

Nadia 12-07-2002 11:43 AM

I only said that I feel sorry Jade because of all the criticism she's getting in the media and that maybe she doesn't deserve all that. I certainly don't want her to win the competition, and there's no hope of that anyway. But I do hope when she comes out of there that she won't get a very hard time. That's all.

I dont think that we need to worry about Jade winning BB, the press are whipping everyone into a frenzy about her so the minute she is up for eviction she is out of there.

Summer

I've disliked her, liked her, felt sorry for her, disliked her again, felt sorry for her again and now I like her again!!

Whatever our feelings about Jade, she has been EXTREMELY entertaining in the house and I too hope she will be treated with kindness when she leaves.

ive never actually liked jade but shes now realised that da ppl in da house dont like her either:flower:

WILDCHILD 12-07-2002 06:51 PM

Jade really is getting depressed lately. She has been moping about the house today, not talking to anyone. I feel sorry for her, and like you miriam I have swapped and changed my mind and now I really hope she doesnt get a bad reception - she has given us nothing but entertainment whilst being in that house.:colour::dance::colour:

I thought Jade was really funny tonight using her baba voice all rapped up in cling film asking Alez when she could play follow the van, and Alex acting like he was shocked, as if to say who told you about that. I wish Jade messed about more that way.:love:

Unfortunately, I don't think there is enough time left for Jade to redeem herself, she'll probably leave next week.

She has been a constant source of entertainment over the last 7 weeks, even when she's been annoying she's always been interesting to watch.

Sadly, the crowd will probably boo her when she leaves, and I hope it doesn't upset her too much. On the whole, I would have to say that she and Alex have made this Big Brother this year, it would have been an incredibly boring show without either of them!

I sincerely hope the crowd DON'T boo her, Janette.

BTW, I think Tim will go next week, not Jade.

I think Alex, Jonny, Kate and Jade will be the last 4 in the house and that they all deserve to be for various reasons.

Romantic Old Bird 12-07-2002 08:38 PM

I have a feeling it will be Tim vs Jade.
On his current self serving form, Tim will walk next Friday.

I wish Jade had left earlier, but she does deserve to be in the last four more than Tim.

The real fascination is the remaining triumvate!

Jade won't win, but who will??

:conf:

That is the one plus that this year's has, it's not a foregone conclusion.

If my theory is right, she will go out first the week after ?? on a night to be decided.

No booing though, I hope. No one deservs that, it's horrid.

I agree with you totally, ROB.

I still haven't made my mind up yet. Any of the 4 could still win. It depends what happens in the next 2 weeks.

Exciting isn't it?

I havent got a clue who could win against Jonny, Alex or Kate.
I dont think Jade will win it but I think if he is put up against Tim, she would stay i cos he is the most hated person in there at the moment, more so than Jade.:flower:

BigSister 13-07-2002 05:46 PM

Whildchild i will agree with you

I dunno who will win between Alex Johnny or Kate either

And i wouldnt mind who won but i would like Johnny or Kate to win

I've never been a fan of Jade and she has annoyed me with various levels of intensity since she entered the house on Day 1.

However, I do agree that she is vulnerable and I don't like the way that C4 are exploiting her. I think she will get booed when she leaves the house - though I think her mother and friends will have drafted in a lot of support for her that night so it might not be as bad as we think - and I hope that if this does happen she will cope better than I think she will.

I wouldn't like to be Davina doing that interview, I think it will be very hard as Jade could get very emotional.

To me Jade has come across as possibly the most annoying character in three years of Big Brother. I just find it difficult to understand why she was picked in the first place. But that doesn't mean that I don't have sympathy for her, I do.

Indeed it's hard not to have sympathy for someone that is on the end of the nasty and vicious 'Get the Pig Out' campaign spearheaded by Dominic Mohan in The Sun.

I do think that the Big Brother producers have become worried about the reception that Jade shall receive when she is evicted. In the webchat with the producers someone said that this was 'past funny now' and I think that the producers took this on board.

The result of this was the psychologist giving Jade advice that has improved her behaviour and public image slightly, and also her being edited so that she is presented in a more favourable light. All this, I think, is a result of these concerns for Jade and not a wish to keep her in the house for the entertainment value and ratings of the programme. The people who make Big Brother don't want the programme to be seen as something that ruins lives.

Jade will probably be booed when she comes out but I really hope not. Adele and Lynne being booed made very uncomfortable viewing for me. The booers in the crowd should be made to understand that the combination of hundreds of seemingly innocent boos makes for something quite awful. If PJ can be applauded so can Jade or Tim or any of the others. Say no to booing.

If it's any consolation to Jade though, she will probably earn more than any of this year's Big Brother housemates when she sells her story to the press. Even though she is unpopular with the public, she is the most recognisable character of this year's show like Nick was the most recognisable face of the first series.

Amy 14-07-2002 12:05 PM

I've got to agree on this booing is awful and does make viewing the show hard :nono: I also think that the producers have now realised what reaction Jade could get so are now concerned however, i think Jade does herself no favours despite all of this she will be shocked and then angry at what has been said outside of the house but i still have to say she has done herself no favours :wavey:
