Tony Meehan of the Shadows has died
 
Tony Meehan was a founding member of the group, famous for backing Sir Cliff Richard and their own instrumental hits, from 1958 until 1961.

I saw him live with the Shads, and also later when he joined up with Jet Harris (another Shads original) to tour in 1963. I hasten to add, I was not even a teenager then, but my mum wanted someone to go with!
