Biggest (musical) disappointment of the year?
I'll just post a few albums as the poll options - but shall leave "other" open :p
|
For me it's a toss up between Christina Aguilera, Goldfrapp and Kylie - though I was never really expecting that much from Kylie, her album EXCEEDED my expectations in terms of how dire it is.
MGMT also...their attitude lately stinks. This whole "we never wanted to be in the industry, we're sick of playing Kids and Time To Pretend" nonsense - WELL MAYBE LET'S NOT ENTER THE INDUSTRY THEN? :) Hated Kate Nash's but I hate her, so... and after loving Gorillaz initially I've realised there aren't actually any great songs. It all blends very well as a artistic album, but it's more experimental than Red Moon at college. So boring. -picks Goldfrapp because Xtina's has more than 2 good songs- |
Goldfrapp.
No song on the album was as good as Ooh La La, I expected better. |
agreed, though I do love Alive and Rocket :(
|
/\/\/\Y/\ or Bionic
/\/\/\Y/\ because I just didn't like it, after XXXO and Haters leaked I thought it was going to be a great album, but not so much :s And Bionic, well.... |
X-Factor. It was rubbish.
|
MGMT, Kate Nash & Ke$ha.
MGMT - 'Congratulations' doesn't even TOUCH 'Oracular Spectacular'. Kate Nash - New album is awful. Ke$ha - Has had way better demos that didn't make the album. |
MGMT - It's okay in places but they've ultimately tried to be something they're not and it's an unlikable album because of it.
Kele - I like Bloc Party but this was rubbish, there's one or two good tracks under layers of filler. The Drums - It's a good album, very listenable but nothing jumps out. I won't skip it if it pops up on shuffle but there's not many songs on it I'd jump to listen too either. Ellie Goulding - Under the Sheets is by far her best song and nothing on the album matched up to it. It's a very generic sound. It hasn't been a great year really, only Gorrilaz' Plastic Beach has met my expectations. |
How do you say MIA's album? :'(
|
Anything Diana Vickers touches is going to be a dissapointment

I actually really enjoy MGMT's new album. It's really different from anything of Oracular Spectacular but they did say that they were changing their sound before it was even released.

/\/\/\Y/\ is just a fancy way of writing it. |
Kate Nash definitely, her new album is total cack.

Busted :(
|
I chose Goldfrapp. Their album was like an album of their Supernature b-sides, so average nothing new or fresh what so ever :/
|
Bullet for my Valentine's new album is so crap it isn't even funny, they've turned into pussies.
I hope their next album reverts to stuff like in The Poison and Scream Aim Fire. |
Usher's **** album.
|
I only really bothered with Kate Nash's, which I'm really mixed on, some songs are brilliant, but others (Mansion Song = wtf!) are just terrible.
I've not heard Kele's, I like Tenderoni, but I miss Bloc Party :( I've also not heard MGMT, but they do my ****ing head in, I love Time to Pretend and Kids, if they're not happy with being in the industry then they should stop making music, that simple really! |
I haven't really heard all of MIA's new album, but I voted for it as the songs I did hear really fell short of the quality of Kala.
|
Usher - Raymond vs. Raymond, I got bored listening to it first time, only a few good tracks on it (Lil' Freak, OMG [bored of now; overplayed], Mars vs. Venus, Papers and Guilty is ok).
Kate Nash's album is amazing! |
