Big Brother has gone backwards

Back in the day Big Brother was this HUUGE phenomenon that didnt give a **** about its haters and was not afraid of controversy.

It opened peoples eyes to Gay people (Brian) Transexuals (Nadia) and even as late as BB7 with Petes tourettes.

The alcohol was pretty much a huge part of every series as was housemates flashing their tits even in BB1 Nicola had her fanny out and Craig his MASSIVE willy swinging for all of Great Britain to see and these both made the highlight shows.

Fast forward to 2010.

-Housemates are not allowed to have their alcohol and big brother controls how much they get by how many units per day is recommended by the government.

-Mario streaks through the house naked and they deem it to controversial to show in the highlights

-Any arguing and name calling is classed as bullying and Big Brother repremands a housemate on anything they think may cause a little upset in the outside world

I remember when Brian called Narinder a **** as a joke and it was totally fine coz thats all it was A JOKE

If that happened now all hell wold break lose.

Big Brother has gone from ground breaking television which stuck its 2 fingers up to the toffs and politically correct people turning their noses up at it to this tiny little show treading on egg shells afraid of what may happen to it over stupid things like housemates getting drunk or getting naked.

As much as i love BB the show has become to tame and as its the last series i expected them to go out with a bang and basically tell all those people critisizing to **** off!

Raph 01-07-2010 06:48 PM

Agreed. Shame, really.

President 01-07-2010 06:48 PM

Good post Daniel Lewis :).

Patrick 01-07-2010 06:52 PM

Just wait until the final few weeks.

President 01-07-2010 06:53 PM

To defend Endemol, they are probaby strictly ordered by Channel 4 to have little alcohol

Exactly. C4 want everything boring so Offcom don't come along and have a go at them. Ever since the race row the show hasn't been the same.

President 01-07-2010 06:56 PM

I can't wait for another chanenl like Five to get their hands on BB. They'll be more lenient and allow more alcohol.

Yeah its all channel 4. Endemol make BB all around the world and show people having sex in Germany lol so fair do's to them.

I just couldnt believe JJ got a warning today over sunshines knickers getting flashed. Sunshine knew it was a joke its not as if he ripped her underwear off and started fingering her is it!

bettiepage 01-07-2010 06:56 PM

it's funny as well because there's much less people watching it now then there was 5-10 years ago

Zippy 01-07-2010 06:56 PM

This series definitely feels like its on a tight leesh. Dunno what theyre playing at but its not the explosive final series we all hoped for.

Then again, we'd be more sad about it ending if it was amazing.

President 01-07-2010 06:57 PM

I dunno why Channel 4 are being such arses. It's the last series anyway. If they have loads of alcohol and there's a controversy, who cares? It's the last one on their channel.

InOne 01-07-2010 06:57 PM

Totally agree. It's not like it used to be at all. Can't believe it's gone so PC mad. The amount of alcohol is ridiculous.

President 01-07-2010 07:00 PM

Seems to me they're deliberately wanting ratings to be low so there's no future for bb on another channel. Why else would they put it on at ridiculous times like 8pm and 10.30pm on a weeknight next couple weeks?

bbfan1991 01-07-2010 07:00 PM

The OFCOM brigade annoy me:mad:. Of course BB was always going to be controversial, didn't they get the if you don't like something don't watch message?.

daniel-lewis-1985 01-07-2010 07:00 PM

I miss Kate getting so pissed she fell over putting her clothes on,Glyn throwing up everywhere and Kinga fingering herself with a bottle of pinot grecio lol

Remember when Craig fromm BB6 bashed one out in the living room?

They even shows that

Outrageous but AWESOME TV

jimbobster 01-07-2010 07:01 PM

My life seems more exciting than watching BB

and im a boring ****er

BB_Eye 01-07-2010 07:01 PM

BB simply can't do what they did before. We can never have a repeat of all the controversy and excitement of a few years back until this government finally gives OFCOCK the axe. Lets hope they keep their promises.

InOne 01-07-2010 07:01 PM

Yeah, the changing times must annoy people. It usually changes for things such as docs or big American Sitcoms and dramas

_Seth 01-07-2010 07:03 PM

I feel really lazy just saying "I agree 100%", but that's all I can say. :)

It's a shame there has to be so much censoring.

Jamietwo 01-07-2010 07:06 PM

it is sad that they are being to pc with it or whatever they say, i mean sad like omg cry not sad as in loser!

Zippy 01-07-2010 07:13 PM

Theyve gone all American. Everything about this series is a copy of the BB USA. Including the PC censoring.

Surprised they don't pixelate Bens bulge or Rachaels ass.

Nemo123 01-07-2010 07:14 PM

The yard of ale challenge subtitled, non alcoholic beer, says they are at last taking some responsibility for what they show.

It's the same with the Do Not Try This At Home warnings on TV for years.

Where alcohol's concerned, it's the responsible thing to advise viewers that drinking is not all fun.

PC gone mad? You have to act responsibily if you are a broadcaster.

Zzzzz. BB is a late night show not on childrens TV. And since when is it BB s job to give moral guidance on the rights and wrongs in society?
