She's okay. I know she's the music critics' flavour of the month.

For once I feel the hype is justified though. The ArchAndroid is an absolute masterpiece of a debut.

so far...I approve. It seems to be a very strong album that's celebratory of genres that THANKFULLY AREN'T ELECTRONIC. My God we're drowning in that lately. It's sort of a soul/R&B/jazz hybrid...with swing influences.

Her album is AMAZING! She's like Erykah Badu + James x Outkast / David Bowie. Honestly it's a masterpiece.

The trick is to listen to her album right through, don't skip songs. It tells the story of the album and all links together.

This song is my absolute favourite off the album, "Mushrooms & Roses" - it's like new-age Hendrix.


Almost mesmerising, like you're dreaming when you listen to it. Definitely one to watch!!

I respect David Bowie as an amazing artist/entertainer but I do prefer Monae's more current and mainstream product.
