From a religious point of view, how long ago was Adam and Eve?

Someone told me today that Adam and Eve were put on the Earth about 20,000 years ago. It was longer than that surely?

InOne 24-07-2010 01:43 AM

Nah, they believe it's like 6-10 thousand years lol

Boothy 24-07-2010 11:17 AM

But don't they believe that Adam and Eve were put on the Earth 7 days after it was created? Do they believe in dinosaurs and stuff? lol

I don't even know who Eve and Adam are.

I mean. Like who created the world?

Who created water? Who created bricks to build buildings?

Who created a body? Who created the heart? Who create teeth, eyes, cock, vagina etc etc etc. Surely we didn't just grow out of a plant pot.

well dinosaurs were on the earth 65 million years ago (which makes my mind boggle) and Adam and Eve (the first living things created apparently) were, I don't know, say ten thousand years ago... There's somebody lying about something!

God did not create dinosaurs according to the bible. In the 6 days he created the world he created animals before Adam and Eve wo he created on day 6. He reasted on the sabbath (7th day) which is why we have sunday the day of rest.

Yeah, when I think about things like that, I realise that my brain can't really cope with it...
It's the same when I try and think about space being infinite... it boggles my mind too much to try and think about.
Do you know what I mean? Or do I sound demented??

From a religious point of view? Is there any other point of view on Adam and Eve? :/

I know what you mean. Same happens to me. Like, I can't actually imagine something without an end. I think it's because humans have an end, therefore to envision eternity is nigh on impossible.

According to Jewish folklore, Adam had a wife before Eve. She was called Lilith, but she was a bit wild and independent and ended up leaving Eden and getting it on with an angel.

I wonder how anyone can still believe in the Creation theory in the face of so much scientific evidence of evolution and the Big Bang.

I agree.. it baffles me in fact. I know somebody who is super intelligent but believes 100% everything the bible says!
If you try to put other theories to him, he rubbishes them without any debate or argument at all..
