So unfair...

Witty, self-deprecating and intelligent, with an ability to converse with everyone on a genuinely warm level and yet his looks will always be a deterrent for many women who can't see through the exterior of a person, you know?

I mean, let's be honest, he's far more funny and interesting than the so called "hunks" in there. If he looked like one of the JJ's they'd be all over him in a second.

DanielleT92 29-07-2010 11:33 AM

That's very true, not forgetting how hysterical he is to watch :)
Very charming for someone with so little experience lol.

as90 29-07-2010 11:34 AM

I disagree, he wouldn't be so warm, witty and intelligent as you say if he was a "hunk". He has been forced to development other characteristics. Battle of the fittest. If he was "better looking" he would have spend more of his years in relationships instead of becoming the maths genius, and probably would come across as being shallow and be interested in other things like many people are.

Beso 29-07-2010 11:35 AM

He'd be treated like ben..slimey and leacherous..

smudgie 29-07-2010 12:33 PM

I am up and down with Andrew, but he is funny. Would be no heartache to me if the lad won. He has a much nicer personality than a lot of the others, up to now that is:hugesmile:

chemistry has nothing to do with looks. he'll find someone.
I find him to be a bit lecherous tbh LOL

Aww give him a break, he's barely 19, had virtually no experience with women at all, so when someone he fancies is giving him the glad eye, his hormones go wild!

He's not 14. he's 19.

He has to be told to keep his mits to himself, women aren't objects, didn't his mother bring him up well?

if he's not told he'll turn into steve.

Livia 29-07-2010 01:20 PM

I think it's girls who go for the 'hunk' while women want something a little less one-dimensional. Andrew's got a brain. He's already intelligent and amusing and in a few years he'll turn into an interesting, well-rounded man who will have a great career and a full life. Meanwhile the John Jameses of this world will be older, less pretty and still desperately trying to hang on to their youth while still working in a Surf Shop

Showstopper 29-07-2010 01:26 PM

I disagree.......... I thought his comments towards John James to Josie smacked of a very selfish person. While funny to watch, it left no doubt in my mind that he would happily sabotage her relationship or chance of one with John James for his own selfish wants.

Andrew is incredibly intelligent, no doubt about it, but he is also a selfish person

He was clearly joking - well... half-joking - and Josie seemed to find it funny or she'd have moaned and whined to everyone else like she does when someone inadvertantly upsets her. And really, everyone is selfish to a degree. I think people have been really hard on him, considering some of the other, really usavoury characters in there.

I disagree, he was clearly portraying himself as half joking, but if Josie had reciprocated in any way he would have been all over her like Marcus on Noirin - he was serious and couldn't give a monkeys about John James or his feelings.

Josie's reaction to his antics is irrelevent, my point is based around the fact that Andrew does things for Andrew, nobody else

Did you see his reaction to Steve nominating him in the save and replace? - Can anyone say that that was a spontaneous reaction? No it was a planned and pre-meditated reaction done purely to make himself look good (and I have to say, very well done it was too)

He was quite drunk, though, wasn't he. I think you have to take that into account.

I thought his reaction to Steve's nomination was both spontaneous and, while he was obviously gutted, rather gracious.

Andrew is intelligent, but he's 19. While 19 year olds often think they're shrewd and urbane, I don't think he's actually sophisticated enough right now to be the Bond Villain people are trying to imply he is.

But we can agree to disagree.

Spontaneous no, I firmly believe he had decided to do this should he have been put up regardless. Gracious definitely, sincere definitely not.

I in no way think he is a super villain, I do think however that he has expertly played up to the perception that he is a young innocent kid with no social intelligence. He's 19 not 13

Yes he is socially awkward at times, but as I said he plays up to it to fly under the radar of other housemates

CaraRawr 29-07-2010 04:08 PM

I love Andrew, he's epic.

He wipes the floor with that emotional wreck JJ. And Im sure he knows a lot more about being bullied than that self pittying phoney.

Im hoping that Andrew will be JJs downfall.

Nah, there's plenty of good looking lads with wit and intelligence too -the ba$tards - you don't have to spend your life in books and doing maths to learn that stuff and become "deep". I hate generalising - all I was doing in this thread was trying to highlight the saddening aspect of it all when you compare him to the other lads in the house, that's all. Not a geek vs hunk discussion here. Alot of ar$eholes who are geeks too and vice versa.

My fave moment this year was Andrew in the diary room with the scantily clad women. Loved it, his reactions were soooo funny and I think most of us have talked a load of cr@p when we're drunk. Again, soooo funny.

Am really warming to him

Very well put.
