3D movies: A bad trend?

I am really sick of all these movies coming out in 3D.

Its cool once in a while, but it seems like they are trying to make more and more of them. I mean, once youve seen so many movies in 3d, it becomes normal. And you cant quite enjoy regular TV or regular 2d movies anymore.
And I also think the movie quality will suffer in general. People are gonna focus on graphics, more than the content of the movie.

ANd I feel bad for the parents who have to take their kids to see the 3D movies. Because lets face it, once its out, and popular, you ahve to take your kids, or you are a terrible parent. So you have to pay the extra premium 3D price.
Anyways. what do you guys think, is anyone tired of them yet.

Iceman 04-08-2010 12:20 AM

I haven't seen any of the new 3-D movies, I reckon I must be the only one lol. But yeah 3-D puts me off going to see movies, I was perfectly happy with normal ones.

Wildcat! 04-08-2010 12:24 AM

Same here! It really annoys me for some reason. There is also the fact that it kind of exlude some people. There are certain people who cant see properly in one eye, or not at all. The glasses dont work for that person! Also for some people it just gives you headache and dizinness. ANd there is the fact that a lot of coutries, or cities, dont have the 3D or Imax theater, so they cant see it anyways!

I am OK with a few moives being 3D, but now all the big blockbusters are trying to do them and thats annoying!

Iceman 04-08-2010 12:26 AM

Yeah I agree completely, it puts me off rather than attract me to go see something, luckily most cinemas in Ireland (well Dublin anyway) offer both 3-D and 2-D viewing so I just go to the normal one.

But you could say the same thing about short-sighted people watching a movie in HD.

I don't think 3D is going to make a huge difference to movies, but I don't really see the harm in them. These 3D streetdance movies are incredibly naff though.

King Gizzard 04-08-2010 12:27 AM

I'm sick of it cus i'm shortsighted so wear glasses for movies, and then have to have these on as well. Look a right tit. lol

(as you were saying actually didn't see that post)

Ramsay 04-08-2010 12:28 AM

i dont like them
the 3d doesnt make much difference and the glasses are such effort to keep on
2d was grand
i just hate how EVERYTHING is being turned 3d
the new jackass movie coming out is 3d:shocked:

seanraff07 04-08-2010 12:28 AM

Totally agree with this, just another attempt to rip people off i'd say.

Nothing wrong with good old 2D, 3D just eans people can make **** like Avatar and get money from it, not for the story, but because it's "3D"

That's one of the reasons why i still haven't seen Avatar....but hey from what I can gather it's getting re-released soon....:bawling:

Scarlett. 04-08-2010 12:42 AM

Aye, all Avatar has done is take what games have been doing for ages and made the graphics 3D, I saw a blu ray version on TV in HMV and it looked **** as it wasnt in 3D

Wildcat! 04-08-2010 12:42 AM

Thank god I am not the only one who doesnt like this! I thought I was being uncool as usual! :)

Yeah, its well off putting! Like I said, its cool to have one once in a while, but when you see all the big movies, going 3D, it just sucks!

Even at that I just never saw the interest of blue dragons flying around, it just never appealed to me, if i didn't wanna see it normally , I sure as hell didn't want it flying into my face.

Yeah i wouldn't mind if they spaced them out or whatever, but there's tons at the moment, hopefully someone like Pixar will realize and stop before they make all movies in the format.

LaLaLand 04-08-2010 12:45 AM

The last and only movie I saw in 3D was Alice in Wonderland (besides the film boring me) the "3D effects" seemed out of focus and blurred to an extent.

The prices are rip-off too! I just go 2D all the time now.

Yep, i watched Toy Story 1 and 2 in 2D and i didn't get that with Toy Story 3 so it just wasn't the same for me.:bawling:

Jords 04-08-2010 12:46 AM

If youve never seen one, its cool! I would recomend avatar. That would be a good first time experience. Its definitely good as a novelty thing. But it just shouldnt be like forever, and all the movies becoming 3D and stuff!. I remember when I was a kid, there was a Michael Jackson 3D movie, in Disneyland LA. And that was so cool, because it was the only one around.

King Gizzard 04-08-2010 12:59 AM

Omg I think I remember that Michael Jackson thing at disneyland! that was proper 3d, where it actually was right up to your face

And I went to an iMax in barcelona and it literally is like this..

billy123 04-08-2010 01:34 AM

3-D movies have been around for 60 years and its never taken off so why they still keep trying i dont know the 3-D film craze were getting now isnt much different to 30 years ago then it was anaglyph and now its polarizing glasses and eclipse glasses which still rely on 2 images at once on the screen which means you cant watch it without cheap plastic specs stuck to your face!
The sooner this later craze for it dies a death the better as far as im concerned.
I think the film studios are only persevering with it because it has put a stop to the crudest form of film pirating taking a camcorder to the cinema and recording it.

Scarlett. 04-08-2010 01:35 AM

By the time 3D truely catches on, holographic TV's will be in their infancy

Iceman 04-08-2010 01:36 AM

I agree with you Bobnot, I think it is more to do with Piracy than anything else. I remember the silly paper glasses they gave out for movies in the early 90's that made people look more like cartoon characters than anything else.
