Daily Mail 'Outrage' Over legless, blind War hero!

Here we go ... the winner of BB 2010 ...

"Disabled Big Brother housemate Steve Gill was forced to score darts bullseyes on the show last night to win food for the house - despite only having one eye and false legs.
The former soldier, who lost both legs and an eye aged just 19 in an IRA explosion in Belfast, had to land the arrows unaided by other housemates when Big Brother played the theme tune of Eighties darts-based quiz show Bullseye.
However, the Royal National Institute For The Blind branded the task 'unfair' and that producers had picked on Steve because of his disabilities."

Steve didn't make a drama out of it. Trust the Daily Mail... He is a pretty dull housemate, but he did the task without complaining even though it took him a long time. If the Daily Mail want to be outraged about something they should take a look at some of the diabolical things some FMs have said about him and his disabilities on this forum.

Harry! 06-08-2010 06:49 PM

Dont ever listen to what the Daily Mail says as they are liers.

WOMBAI 06-08-2010 06:52 PM

That made for very interesting reading - thanks for posting that!

A lot of the ignorant youngsters on here who keep slating him for being lazy could do with reading that - shame on them!

Hero1 06-08-2010 06:52 PM

I have to say Kudos to steve getting on with it without moaning, but it is actually a disabled charity group who are in shock, DM is just reporting it!

In prespective it makes John James look like a whinging buffoon!

iRyan 06-08-2010 06:54 PM

How was it "unfair"? He scored a bullseye almost every time. Obviously his disability was not impairing him...

Very true!

Because the task caused him a lot of pain and discomfort!

If it's the Daily Mail, it'll be less "reporting" and more "sensationalist exaggerating". But yeah, he got on with it. Good on him.

Hes a big boy stop patronising him.

People need to stop wrapping Steve up in cotton wool.

It beggars belief some people cannot grasp or comprehend the obvious.

That is certainly not my intention - but if the task caused him discomfort - it was in poor taste! Hardly patronising as he completed the task successfully anyway - which shows what a trooper he is!

Julie10 06-08-2010 07:02 PM

Yes Steve got on with his task even though he was in some considerable pain. Pansy John gave up the task which only involved sitting on his derrier for 24 hours as he couldn't hack it. Someone to look up to. NOT!

cub 06-08-2010 07:06 PM

My point is....

Now the Daily Spite has hold of the story, they will railroad him to victory. It is patronising in the extreme to allow him to win due to his disabilities alone. There is no other reason why he would win otherwise.

Shameful. He should never have gone in.

Your point fell by the wayside!

He has shown us what a trooper he is - to carry out a task that caused him pain and discomfort without a word of complaint - can you imagine JJ doing that - makes him far more deserving in my book!

Are you suggesting segregating people on the grounds of disability? That's a very patronising notion. In any case, I wouldn't imagine the archetypical BB voter takes the Mail.

Chuckyegg 06-08-2010 07:12 PM

Its so unlike The Daily Mail to stir up trouble and tell lies.

hahahahahahaa

Jamietwo 06-08-2010 07:46 PM

Daily mail is a hate filled fag full of lies....it would be far more insulting not to give steve the chance to do something physical.

stonedape 06-08-2010 07:50 PM

What's wrong with a little challenge? It's not like Steve's incapable of throwing darts...and he shouldn't be forced to encounter no challenge as host all series long just because of a disability.

Lex 06-08-2010 07:58 PM

To be honest...I do not believe that BB has in any way neglected Steve's disability!
They have moulded a part for Steve to play in the tasks, according to his capabilities!
My nephew has one eye, and loves to play darts!(pretty good too.)

Now if comments about the man, by 'some' members of this forum were to be taken into consideration?....Then.....Well what can I say??

This was clearly not in the Daily Mail as it doesn't mention immigrants at least once!

I'm being the opposite of patronising.

I'm suggesting that if Steve was fully able-bodied he would never have been yunder the slightest consideration for entry into the Big Brother house.

Big Brother saw the disability - not the man - and offered him an audition.

How. Patronising. Is. That?

What throwing darts caused pain and discomfort?

He was in so much pain and discomfort he scored a bullseye.

The only discomfort Steve gets is a sore backside from contant sitting around giving orders.

toothpick 06-08-2010 10:45 PM

Daily Mail and the SUN are his only supporters.....it speaks volumes about the people supporting this disgusting perverted fake war hero

Tom4784 06-08-2010 10:51 PM

It's the Daily Mail, only bigots and sheep read that crap.

DM's a rag of a paper, it relies on it's army of sheep to get mad so that they can make narratives out of it's twisted versions of events. BB wouldn't give Steve something he couldn't do just in case something like this was written against them.
