The Art thread

This will probably flop worse than Louie Spence's wang in a straight bar but I'll give it a go.

I like that Claudia - it reminds me of the animation from A Scanner Darkly. (plus there's a Bowie one :p)

:D

And yea I seen that movie, it is like it. The style looks almost easy to draw too, but I'm sure it's very tough.

Are they drawings Claudia or computer images?

I'm not sure, but if you look at his site, I think he draws them in a notebook and then maybe scans them onto the computer to clean them up and do the colours.

Yeah, I'd say it's a mix of the two really. Love to learn how to use art tools on the computer like that, just to have a go at it. The colours are so strong.

It's not too difficult to do as long as you know a bit about the tools and have a good concept of shading. Quite a few people did stuff like that in my art classes. :)

Honestly, I haven't got a clue about such things and wouldn't even know where to start looking when it concerns what programmes are better etc. Probably just getting old, that's all. Should have a lash at it though.

LJ you might like James Jean's work (http://www.jamesjean.com/work/)

Spoilered because of size.

setanta 15-08-2010 02:47 AM

He's got some great stuff Claudia.

setanta 15-08-2010 02:50 AM

I was about to say that there's quite an Asian flavour to his art, as well as a bold, almost graphic art kinda feel to them. And yeah, now I've read Wikipedia and it all makes sense. He's excellent though Claudia.

Diego Velazquez - Apollo in the Forge of Vulcan
This is a depiction of the god Apollo revealing to Vulcan, to Apollo's right, that his wife Venus is having an affair with Mars.

He's one of my favourites :p almost put him in my first post, but thanks for the recommendation. I'm very into the Lowbrow kindof style. I wish I knew some sculpture artists that had that lowbrow style if you get what I mean.

And who doesn't love Banksy? I'm yet to meet someone who doesn't.

I never saw that one in the flesh, but saw it in a photo book entitled 'Bad Art for Bad People'. :D
