Are you the same online as in real life?

Would you say you're the same? Some people may exaggerate their personality a bit, or talk how they'd talk.

Shardlake 15-08-2010 04:24 AM

I'm not the same at all really, and have been told so by probably 3 or 4 people that I initially met online.

People dont point and laugh at me online  I feel more relaxed and have been told that my true personality comes across over the net, which gets stifled in person due to my hangups.

GypsyGoth 15-08-2010 04:51 AM

I'm pretty different, I'm confident and chatty here, I'm neither of those things in real life.

Jords 15-08-2010 04:54 AM

I would say so, its hard to know how you come across I find sometimes.

Raph 15-08-2010 05:56 AM

Same as Jords really. I think so, but then again it's hard to think how you come across in real life.

Enid 15-08-2010 07:45 AM

I withdraw from a lot of people offline because most of them piss me off one way or another. On the internet I can say you're an idiot and that's that. That's not to say I'm anti-social or a "loner", but I'm definitely introverted. In most cases I choose to be on my own than with a group or morons.

If we're on the same wavelength, if we "click", if we share many hobbies and interests, then I'll never shut up.

My boyfriend is exactly the same way. Needless to say, we are always spending time together, hahah.

I used to be quite argumentative on here, where as I've always avoided conflict in real life, but have mellowed more recently. I think the biggest real life trait that comes across here is that I am just rubbish with small talk, hence I only really post in Chat and Games occasionally. Plus I can ramble on a bit about stuff that might bore most people. That's definitely me.

I talk about myself too much in real life, which is reflected pretty well on here. I try to do it less, but here I go posting on a thread encouraging you to talk about yourself. :p

30stone 15-08-2010 10:11 AM

Im pretty cocky/confident all the time on here, and im 95% of the time cocky/confident irl, but i can actually get shy occasionally.

Stacey. 15-08-2010 10:16 AM

I'd say I'm the same in real life as on here, and I just post exactly what I'm thinking as you can probably tell. Sometimes on here I think I might come over a bit wrong though? But if you knew me in real life then I don't think I would if that makes sense.

I am the same. I hate small talk too. Either engage in a proper conversation with me, or don't talk to me at all. I'm cool with that. I'd prefer that than having to deal with all the awkwardness.

LemonJam 15-08-2010 11:11 AM

I'm probably shyer and much less camp IRL. I blame Shaun for making me camp online haha.

I don't know how I come across though so it's hard to say really.

I'd say you come across as chatty, friendly and a kid at heart.

Mac Hiavellian 15-08-2010 11:14 AM

Very much

Tom4784 15-08-2010 11:28 AM

No, I don't think a lot of my personality comes across much on the forums.

Scarlett. 15-08-2010 11:46 AM

I'd say similar, though online I have the courage to say things to people I wouldn't in rl

Maia 15-08-2010 11:51 AM

I'm a lot more shy in real life, whereas online I can speak a lot more and I don't feel as awkward and stuff.

Ninastar 15-08-2010 11:55 AM

Im not as flirty or chatty in real life. I do always say what Im thinking though. Sometimes I dont realize it though. esp in real life

billy123 15-08-2010 12:02 PM

Far more tolerant of people on here (usually) but after yesterdays debacle thats done with.
I have picked up 2 infraction points in 2 years(both expired) but because of the crapstorm surrounding john james fall from grace i received 7 infraction points for 2 posts i made that were no different to many posts ive made in the past. given by moderators that were very heavily invested in angrily defending john james and starting a campaign to save him thats just pathetic this is the first time i have ever criticised a moderator on the board in the time i have been a member here but the time is here for them to step back and have a little think about things. The people involved need to seperate their housemate fantime from their moderating duties.

Twilight 15-08-2010 12:03 PM

Not really, i'm kinda awkward and shy in real life, whereas on here, im really outgoing and kinda bitchy :P

Shasown 15-08-2010 12:21 PM

I tone myself down online, I will be polite here where as in real life if you say something stupid I may just rip into you and tell you how much of a pillock you are.

ILoveTRW 15-08-2010 12:33 PM

Im a bit less of a dick in real life :D

foxysarah92 15-08-2010 12:51 PM

I woulld say i am more flirty confident online than off

MeMyselfAndI 15-08-2010 12:55 PM

i think im quite similar i always say what i think which i need to stop

I've just had a look over your infractions and I personally see nothing wrong, It may be a case that your other posts weren't reported and we didn't see them but the posts you got infracted on were. I was the one who gave you the 4 point infraction for the one post and it wasn't out of bias towards you or a certain housemate it was because you broke a number of rules within one post and I'd have given that infraction to anyone who had done the same.

I've always said I don't mind discussing any punishments I hand out as long as things are kept civil but I don't appreciate being branded a biased mod. I stand by my infraction and instead of blaming us you should look closer to home and see how you can avoid infractions in future.

4 points infraction for somebody that was at the time on 0 points infractions and with no warning that i might not want to respond to being baited in that manner?
i will say though dezzy it wasnt the fact you infracted me for that post it was just the severity for somebody not serving any infraction points 4 without warning was excessive.
but hey ho.
