Edinburgh Zoo, Murrayfield Ice Rink, if your interested in Football you could go to Easter Road or Tynecastle stadiums when Hibs or Hearts are playing.

You could go shopping in Princess Street and there is two nearby centres also.. St.James centre and the Princes Mall.

Although i've always thought there isn't an awful lot to do in Edinburgh.:(

I'd like to know too. May be going up to Scotland for a weekend soon.

The question should be more along the lines of what's not to do in Edinburgh. One of the most picturesque cities in all of Europe, with a great night life and it's a wonderful centre for culture with literally something going on all the time -think the Festival is still going on now -, and if not you can just take in the beauty of the city itself.

Not even sure how the Scottish take the English, I know they have a certain sense of humour though

I want to go see the castle there.

What dates you coming up?

Its well worth a visit during the festival and fringe. Saying that though the Edinburgh tattoo is on as well, thats always worth a watch. However its positioned on the castle esplanade, and they use the castle for prep and holding areas for performers so you may find some parts that are normally accessible being closed off.

Edinburgh is the most fantastic city for doing very little.. You can spend hours just wandering.. if you fancy some sightseeing there's the castle, Edinburgh Zoo or the National museum in Chambers street is one of my favourite places in the world.. The pubs are great; you can mingle with the students in the older Grassmarket area or have cocktails and good food on George Street.. There's honestly loads to do..

And the chances of you being stabbed are very minimal I'd say :laugh: Stabbing isn't really the in thing in Edinburgh, you more likely to get the heid stuck in you, but that's only if you act like a complete bawbag..

(I'm only joking.. I have never ever felyt unsafe in Edinburgh (Dundee is a different story))

I could imagine there would be loads to do. I've always heard it's quite posh but always something going on kinda thing. The castles sound good, had a look on the tourism website and that. Although some Scottish guy told me the other day that people from Edinburgh are a bit snobby lol The pubs sounds good to, although i'd like to go in a proper Scottish pub, not just the touristy ones. And nah, not worried about getting stabbed or anything really lol I keep my head out of trouble most of the time

Nah.. it's not snobby. It has it's affluent areas like any city but the city centre is just a bustling mix of student/tourists/visitors (and locals obviously)

There's really ancient pubs in the Royal Mile which are great.. some you have to look for as they are down steep closes etc but are really old and quaint

You will have a great time, loads of street entertainment, theres free shows at some theatres and pubs etc.

Hundreds of pubs to choose from, though obviously some knock the prices up during the festival. The atmosphere in all the pubs will be great.

At the moment no matter where you go you will have something to do or see.

God yeah! I forgot the festival is on! Yip you will definitely have a great time, no matter where you end up.

Yeah indeed, I like stuff like that. Also would like to see some of the quieter bits as well. Can only last so long in packed cities lol

Yep, love just wondering about. Don't even care if I get lost lol As long as it's not too lost if you get me. But that is how you discover all those little places off the guide book. (Not that I'd be using a guidebook) haha

Go and have a beer in South Queensferry and you can sit and view the Forth bridges and then hop on a boat over to Inchcolm island.. tis a nice day out

Edinburgh is ideal then, a couple of minutes walk and you can be away from the hustle and bustle, theres parks within a few minutes walk, Princes Street Gardens the Meadows (S), Carlton hill and Holyrood (E) etc. Plus you can slip into quiet streets etc.

Plus every night is like a friday or Saturday night at the moment.
